I was moored at Vincentia for a few years. The NE winds were punishing on the yacht, apparatus and my nerves. In 3 years the yacht broke free twice, both times within 8 months of having the mooring inspected. The cause was the shackle pin breaking free of the mousing.
On the second occasions I was at my daughter's wedding at Coffs Harbour. No damage on either occasion. Warlock has twin keels and was floated off on the next high.
Now at Shoalhaven Heads and so much happier.

My boats for sale. I'm keen on something bigger but I ain't holding my breath for a buyer and am quite happy to go anywhere in my tophat. While I'm in oz she's for sale here but once I'm close to jump off point then no longer for sale

Another boat washed up at Callala Bay unfortunately.

Looks like a NS 27. I will take a stab and say the bottom shackle failed.

the swivel failed
looks very similar to NS27 but think its a Cole 23

I believe that NS27=Cole 23 moulds + 4ft in the centre, which is why they are hard to tell apart at times.

I don't think it was too hard - just slice and splice the mould. NS started out building the C19 and C23 before developing the NS line. Back when there were sailing magazines you could fold the NS27 advertisement and see how similar they were to the C 23. Just look at pics on line and you can see the similarity.

In the same way the Hutton 24 (which was actually the Dufour 1300) became the Hutton 28 with a centre section added and more freeboard. The beautiful Davidson 55 Starlight Express is actually from the Davo 52 moulds and had a flat spot in the centre section until she was rebuilt after damage, IIRC.

Having owned a NS27 I would be interested to have a look inside a Cole 23 and see the difference. Guess the V birth might be non existent.

Actually, it's gota similar elevated vee berth as the 27, but there's no bulkhead and the head section of the vee berth drops down to form the backrest of the saloon seats and then flips up to extend the berth when in use. Quite a neat idea.

Surely only a child could fit in that v birth. Neat design though.
does the cole 23 have an enclosed head.

I got onboard today to tidy her up. It has been 7 weeks since I was last onboard.
Apart from the damaged sail cover she was fine.
Sponged out the bilge of a few litres of rain water, tested the radio etc and dried some damp cushions.
Engine started first kick and we went for a drive around SPectacle Island. Max speed 5.6, cruise at 5.2. Prop and hull need a clean.

Glad to see you're home safely MB. With all the medications I have to take I'm not allowed to drink, so don't worry it was no problem, I was happy to help. Yours is only 15 minutes away from my mooring, and it was a good demonstration to my kids on how boaties help boaties.
