thinking of now and zen up the tweed and ramona down in green well point. Eastern seaboard getting hammered.
Hope everything's ok and to see some pictures!

Was thinking this is just over but almost exactly 12 months since the storms last year.
I had not long brought my boat and it got hit and badly damaged in that one.
going to check on her tomorrow but glad i had my mooring serviced 2 weeks ago

I'm lucky I've got eyes on my boat . Guy I race with lives right above it and can see it from his living room. he gave me a report today. Woodford bay is sheltered. Where's yours?

this time last year I was living at mcmahons point and a similR low came through. From my flat I could see about 5 big yachts lose their moorings, bouncing through lavender bay.

Kogarah bay on Botany Bay.
Last year's event was a South East our bay is more sheltered in a North East.

We went out today in Moreton bay , 40kn across the deck, but under a nice blue sky. Yesterday was the same but bucketing down. Pretty lonely , only saw two boats both heading in.

Coffs Harbour has really copped it saw on the news the marina has been distroyed.

My eyes in woodford bay wrote me this email today. five dock bay around the corner, but up river and hopefully sheltered as the brunt of the wind was more near coast.

The blow is from the E and our little corner is a bit swirly but otherwise sheltered from the wind. The good news is there is no forecast for a shift to the south which often happens with these east coast lows. Also the full gale force winds do not seem to be coming this far inland, fortunately. Of course it was fun!
Boats are safe in Harbour but that is not what they are meant for.

Lydia got the best out of her today with minimal sail, 14+ with two reefs in main and reefed staysail. Baby steps still, I'm trying not to break too much in the early phase

We sat out the worst of it in Mariners Marina on the Broadwater and now slowly heading up inside Stradbroke Island and into Moreton Bay.
The large tidal movement, is making for some slow progress at times. Having to limit travel to rising tides due to the many sand bars and narrow channels we are discovering.
Great learning experience!

Hi NZ, it you are using Navioncs electronic charts, stick to the dotted line and you will be OK. Come up past Jacobs Well and under the power lines which you will have no problems with. Our mast is 85' though we stay close to the western tower. Our old boat was 63' and had no problems in the centre. i know the bay inside out so give me a call if you need any help or advice. There are some photos on the Greenwell Point yachts Facebook page I of run for the local boats. Around my mooring area we have an old herreshoff yacht up on the mud at the end of my street. Another powerboat off its mooring and the concrete cruiser next to my mooring dragged her new mooring in towards the bank. Jervis Bay has 3 boats up on the beach that I know off and a shredded headsail on a furler! Conditions are quite good this morning with just a fresh Westerly.

Pittwater took a hammering yesterday, along with most of the northern beaches. Went and checked the boat this morning. All good except for a lot of stuff spread around inside the boat, so she has rolled hard. No boats washed up that I could see, but a lot of dodgers, boat covers etc were very second hand.

i reckon clareville and possibly the basin took a hammering. although weirdly the basin seems to be quite sheltered in northerlies.

I holed up in a spot in the Clarence. Couple of sleepless nights, but all good. Not so for my friends at Coffs Marina. It has been smashed to pieces. One friend in hospital after a fall, and other friends spending the day and night tying bits of broken off fingers together to try to keep boats safe. Like a spiders web of ropes. Very glad I wasn't there. L

Had an interesting and sleepless 20 hour sail from Platypus Bay up to 1770. Some winds up to 40kts but mostly around 25-30, Easterly to NE to NW to W to SW. Sea's got up quite quick but nothing dramatic. Reefed right down and holding on. It was the heaviest weather I've yet experienced but was actually really good to see Nautilus handled it well and that I made the right decisions when it mattered. Gained confidence for sure. In 1770 for a couple of days now to dry out and catch up on some sleep.

We are anchored for the night near the Russell Island ferry's. I called them up to ask if we were in the way and they are happy with us where we are. We are heading off to Moreton Bay tomorrow (depending on the weather).

Was great to meet you guys in the Clarence. That's a great spot where you're anchored now. I spent a couple of nights there whilst crewing on a boat a few months back. Enjoy the trip up to Moreton.
