He is unsure whether he will keep this yacht. If he does he will probably give you a call and get a new main. He still has the alloy 42 foot Cole with a set of your sails and will decide after this trip which he will keep.

I have a 1984 US built Farr 37 that I have had for 35 years and raced on the Chesapeake Bay and still winning Championships. The original mast was a 182x117 mm section and quite flexible and carries alot of pre-bend. Dual check stays are essential with this type of flexible rig - you can't sail it without them and properly adjusted you pick up 1/2 to 1 knot. Due to insurance requirement and discovery of 7 cracks I am replacing the rig. None of the big three would quote a section as small as the one I have. The smallest was the 202x122 with internal stiffening from Sparcraft followed by the 208x131 section from Selden both requiring dual check stays but stiffer than what I had. To get rid of check stay they said I would have to go up to around a 264x136. Another local boat went that way also with a 2 spreader mast so to reduce the need for runners. The result is a total dog and he is 30-60 seconds a miles slower than me.

Electra 2's mast is in excellent condition but it does have a crack in the deck mounted mast base that is caused by the mast flex. My mate will weld that when he feels the urge. It's a lovely boat to sail and the recut main is ideal for a boat that is usually sailed solo. He is keeping this one and will sell the alloy Cole 42. The Cole is a big and powerful IOR racer that has done a couple of Hobart races but the interior of the Farr has won him over. This Farr was built to the builder's wife's idea of a comfortable interior and is pretty impressive!

hi, i currently own Pippin, she has a different rig or at least spreader bases, pippin has inline spreaders, the vessel in question, which has much more mast bend has slightly swept aft spreaders.. always happy to have a chat if you require. its interesting as I'm assuming that the chainplates are located in the same position.

The boat in question was built for the owner of the company and as far as I can tell the chain plates are standard.
