Am hoping to gather some useful information on such a iconic yacht,
such as...
who built them
are they solid glass or composite
known problems
ballast lead is it steel with lead cast
Chain plates are they Bolted through the bulkhead , are they prone to weakness
where they well made or just made to race
can you get them to semi plane down wind
how many reefs in main sail
Are they self draining cockpit
do they have an anchor locker if you wanted to overnight
looking forward to any information coming forth.

Hopefully I can answer a fair bit of your questions.

# Initial builder was Paul Kelly who built all the cabin top and C/board versions as well.
# Moulds were then taken over by Rob Shacklady at Lake Macquarie
# From there they went to Taree - Dave Dillon.
# There is a newer set of moulds that I last saw at Gosford and about 6 have been built from it.

# They are all fibreglass, no foam sandwich
# Correct on the keel
# Correct on the chainplates

# The greater majority were raced, some to Hobart. Many have also been delivered interstate by water.

# Our keel used to humm at 14knots, have seen 20 [just]. High teens easy.
# No reef points in the main, nothing stopping you for a delivery main. You would have to set up lines etc
# Yes, self draining
# No anchor locker, ours was in a 'milk' style plastic crate tied to the mast below.

Contact the Association through their Facebook page. We sold ours a decade back, it's still racing.

Great boats for round the harbour, bay, lake. Pick your day to go offshore delivering.

Good post from Phil here;

If I recall right the Taree builder built a "blue line" cabin version which had a perfectly proportioned cabin profile as distinct to the fugly wegde shape of the earlier cabin boats. One was moored off the west Abbotsford shore 5-6 years ago and really looked the goods.
