I'd say it's just a matter of time before something happens at Duchies. I have seen several near misses in the last 3 days with kiters riding South of the playground then jumping downwind. Yesterday some clown with a blue helmet nearly wiped out several people with his antics.

I am surprised none of the other kiters pull these people up on it. If that proposal to ban kiteboarding at this section of the beach gets resurrected by council everyone will have to deal with the consequences.

100% agreed. There have been a few really obnoxious knucklehead blow-ins there recently... jumping without a care who is downwind. It's my local spot and there's a really chill crew there. We have absolutely no problem with new faces showing up. Everyone is welcome, as long as they show some respect for others and ride safely. I've started calmly talking to people in the water or on the beach if they're acting like a d**khead. Can I respectfully suggest that us locals band together to start doing the same? Otherwise, something tragic is going to happen, and/or the great, chill vibe of Dutchies is going to be a thing of the past very soon. Cheers, B
