I am looking for a new wake style/freestyle board. I currently have a 2013 slingshot asylum 141 with hyperlite boots and find the board is heavy and requires high winds. I weigh 93kegs and own 2015 airush lithium 9m 12m 14m

I would like to:
- ride powered in moderate winds
- can be ridden without fins
- fits boots
- 2015-2016 model
- use on rails/sliders

Pretty hard to go past the Tona pop or axis billy/tranq for what you're describing

Axis Tranq/Billy
Cab CBL (2016 as it is no longer a total pig in light winds!)
Liquid Force Echo
Tona Pop (pretty heavy but efficient)

similar weight,

i ride the airush liveiwre 142, has a slider base worth taking one for a demo in addition to the others.

the tranq this u\year also looks great, if not fussed about the latest and greatest there are should be some good deals on superseded boards.

Tona pop look like an affordable option. I ride a axis vangaud now and do like there boards.

Whats the difference between the billy and tranq?

I think they are the same board just different sizes. Tona pop is a sic board, it's heavy but god its fast. Thing I didn't like was the tips are a little too narrow for me.
I was riding the pop for a few years. Now moved onto best profanity. a little lighter then that pop, just as fast, but not quite as much grip with out fins.
Definitely worth having a look at.

drury what did they do to the custom cbl to make it rideable in light winds? i enjoy my 14? 15? cbl but have just lived with fact it can only take me back and forth for a 30m run for practice. did they lessen the severity of the rocker and channels?

+1 for the Airush Livewire: grind base, rides great without fins, fast board for the amount of rocker and amazing pop.

Rocker has been lowered by about 5mm, tips are much wider so you get a squarer outline. More pop and much faster!

+1 for either the Billy'/ Tranq or Tona pop.
Pop will get going marginally lighter, and the Tranq would probably be better than the bills for you at 93 kms

I looked at the 2016 Tranq today. Awesome looking board, heavy though. Rrp is 699. Very tempting

I rode my mates 144 pop today in 11knots with a 15m. Was fast enough to throw backmobes. Can't beat that!

I have notied most wake style boards are quite heavy. Does this have much affect on pop and wind required?

I like to look at it this way. If you weigh 80kg plus, a wet wetsuit, harness and wet boots. What's an extra 2.5kg going to make for performance. I think bottom shape is far more important for light winds then weight. And for the pop it's bottom is perfect for speed and a locked in rail.

Makes sence thanks, in lighter winds how do you change your riding style? More weight to the front foot?

Yes, you stand a little taller, put slightly more weight on the front foot, and turn your chest upwind aimed at where you want to go. This is the same way you ride a real wakeboard behind a kite. Most would just push water and sink but if you can master this technique you can actually ride reasonably well on a very rockered and heavy board.

id say solid not heavy, all wakestyle boards have a bit more weight to them due to construction and to be able to handle the kinds of things you are looking for, get a few demos then make a call from riding the board not reading stats and opinions of others.

The new addition to the family 2016 axis tranq.

What a board, cuts through chop and flys up wind. Pop is awesome. Very happy, thanks for all the replies

Another convert here. Went from Tona 139 to billy 140. Nothing but good things to say however have seen a few issues with others boards. Hoping they have ironed out the flaws in 2016. Has weight increased with the 2016 tranq?

I rode a wake board for 2 years after I kept snapping kite boards, best thing I've ever done for learning the subtle techniques of riding up wind. If you keep your weight forward on the arch of the lead foot, ride the board flatter and steer more with the rear foot rather than just edging it's not that hard going on a high rocker board.

Looks great, very happy. Zu boardsports. They had labeled the price incorrectly.

get a cab custom CBL if your going to be useing it at the park aswell just remember you gotto go a few sizes up on your wakestyle boards. read theyre manuals etc before you buy one. and theyre allllll going to be heavey. for example im the right size for a 136 freestyle board but for a wakestyle board the correct size for me is 140. you got nearly 15kg on me so id say you need like a 143 144
