hay ive noteced a verification in the vegases, where it says vegas at the top of the canopy ( the letter A) is replaced with a chick, however on my vegas it is and angel, but in another vegas i saw a devil, are these limited adition kites or do they just like to make the kites different? what on yours

something to think about

cheers Leo

Matt, had a top day on Sunday. Wind blew 20 to 34 knots with some occassional big ones coming through.
Bottom end for me on the 14 is 16/17 kns on my underground 152 and a couple of kns higher when im on the smaller board.
As Danny said it was a bit tough staying on the edge when the biggies came through but 99 % of the time it was no dramas.
Jumping with this kite is sensational - you really get that adrenallin rush happening.
I think the 12 and 16 are probably your best bet given you are a bit lighter than me.
I know Steve has a couple in stock - check him out - he's giving good deals at the moment.
cheers for now

If you check out the north web site you will see that the red and pink vegas have the she-devil and the green and blue ones have the angel...

How long were you flying your kite before you noticed the chick?

Interested that your bottom end is 16/17 on a 152..you must be a big bugger. At my weight 85-90 on a 133x40 I can go with a bottom end of about 13-14 knots easy. It only starts getting fun past 15 knots though. I reckon the top end is high 20's before you want to slip down to the 10m.

Matt I was on my nine meter it now tells me I can get going from about 20 to 35 knots had an execellent day.

As for the waroos have seen them around and spoken to some guys that ride them and they love them, probably the best of the bow kites would not go bigger than a 12 as we all know that bows dont work really well above that size.

As for the ravens love them the boost and the height you get is amazing, justin had a go on the nine and was getting some really good air cant wait for the 07 raven to come out will probably get a new 12 as I have punished my 12.

Got a 10m Vegas and haven't had much wind until this morning and boy was I impressed - unhooked riding is easy as, depower is massive and speed is great! I love a quick small kite and this thing is super quick! Got going from about 17/18 knots but 20+ was great (I weight 85kg and ride a 132 and held my line at 20knots). Looking forward to trying her out in 25+!

The bar still needs a bit of work, but here are my two fixes!
1. The handle to grab your depower is useless when the depower is fully released - it's too flexible and gets deformed a bit. So I've used a small piece of tube, about 1.5cm, the same stuff as chicken loops are made out of, and slid that inside the handle to make it stiffer. Works a treat!
2. The grip around the hole thru the centre of the bar was getting a beating, as when I fully sheeted in the hook for the micro loop and the quick release assembly bashed into it. So again, the same little bit of chicken loop tube placed as a spacer between the bar and the depower rope knot at the chicken loop. Seems to be working well - have to see what long term impact it has on the 5th line. Maybe the 5th line needs to run through it also? Seems ok today though.

Has everyone else had these problems? Any other ideas? If someone hasn't fixed it how is the bar grip looking at the centre hole on the chicken loop side?
I'm really impressed - bring on some real winds!!!!

brooksy, north have put plastic tubes on all the newer vegas bars also rubber bands around the cleat so it grips better(if youres don,t have it i can put one on in 5 secs)also ive found replacing the the grab ball with a much bigger one works fantastic.
Also they have cut away some of the bar grip around the centre of the bar so it don,t get so bashed up.
And ive found surfboard wax helps with less wear and tear on the fifth line and depower line.
Hope the tips helps.

Cheers Dan,

I've got the band around the cleat. Hopefully my mods work for the bar. I'll have to try the wax trick though!

Vegas Owners,

I'm thinking of buying a 16m & 12m 06 Vegas. I've been reading about some cambatten problems. Has anyone had any sail damage from a broken batten? or do they just snap without causing any other damage?

2 battens, no damage to pockets or canopy.

I was whinging about breaking 4 or 5 battens on this forum a while back. But they did not do any damage to the kite (and I can't see them ever doing damage), and they are really easy to replace. Now I know they are fairly cheap I really don't see this as being a problem, and I definitely don't think that this would be a reason to not buy the kite.

I am loving the v06 16m, good for 15 - 25 knots (94 kg, 145 board), and I might get 12m next season for 25+.

I was definitely expecting the worst when I dropped my 12 in 3ft dumpy surf today but it was all good! No broken cam battens...stoked! Might check it again in some light though just to be sure.

Noticed while laying out my Vegas lines the other day that the 5th line (the white "safety" line that weaves in and out 3 or 4 times) is starting to show signs of wear, where it crosses the openings made in the "power" line. Has anyone else noticed this wear on theirs? Is this normal wear? At the rate it's wearing I think it won't belong before it snaps. Is there something you can put on these sections to reduce the amount of friction? My 5th line normally isn't rigged tight at all, so I'm surprised it has worn so quickly.

Hey,
Thought I'd do my bit for those that are still looking at getting a vegas as i just got mine, Thanks Buschy! Had my first shot on my 12 m vegas6 yesterday, wind was 14-16 with gusts to 18 if I was lucky. I'm 75kg and been riding for a year(jumps, downloops and small stuff). Started off with a skimboard and found it extremely easy to crank this kite around and get some apparent wind going. I then hopped on my mates 122 underground flx not expecting to get going at all, but managed to take off and stay well powered even riding upwind at points without having to sin the kite. In conclusion this kite is quick, smooth and has decent depower compared to other c kites. I'd say its a kite for those that don't like the feel of bows atm and would prefer to stay straight
Thanks
Matt
