Im just getting into boots, they are scarier and better .
After an Acl repair using straps , the boots are better.
Im only in flat water , have had some moments .
They take quite a bit more strength to self rescue,
but hold the power !

Hahahaha boots might save your knees ronnie but all i can say is lucky your made out of rubber buddy. #headfirstontosandeverysession hahaha you would have to be one of the most entertaining kiters to watch in australia hahaha love it.

I mean yeah sure they're a pain in the arse and putting them on is annoying.

How are they a pain to put on? They are far easier to put on and get the tightness right than any other boot.

@Duff15 I would be less worried about your boots and more worried about getting a board with a decent rocker line . Try a Tranq or Billy instead of the Vanguard and you will be amazed .

Thanks for the advice.

I now have the boots on the asylum. Heaps better but needs More wind to be powered because of the rocker.

I was just going to say as a snowboarder, skier, kitesurfer with straps, kitesurfer with boots, snowkiter I would rather my feet tied into boots tied to a board all day every day during crashes of any kind. Granted boots have no place in big breaking surf but apart from that they prevent injury during impacts IMO. Did I mention the board can't hit you in the head in boots unless your into yoga??

I know this is from a while ago but thought I'd set you straight, it is definitely possible to cop the board in the back of the head while wearing boots..

I am by no means a flexible and managed to hit myself in the back of the head while wearing a pair of hyperlites. And I'm talking stitches bad. The missus was not impressed when I got home looking like the walking dead and asking for a lift to the hospital.

I did it by turning a railey into a full on scorpion, would not recommend.

I have been using the slingshot asylum for a while now and find it needs loads of wind. Is there any other wakestyle boards that do not require as much wind?

I've never tried the asylum to compare it, but my 141 LF echo gets going pretty early the 016 echo has more rocker so may loose a bit of low end. How does the slingy fast track system compare to conventional inserts ?

What sort of winds do you require to be powered?

I may need to work on my riding style and stance.

Definitely. Tona pop and best profanity are both very fast and need less wind. But more rocker/ slower boards still have there upsides.

i ride in vic and am similar spec, i find my 142 livewire works well for me, demo a few different things and see what works best for you. have found asylums need a bit more wind to get going.

Style that all, and you don't need it. Makes no difference in the way the board rides. Just do what you want if it makes your life easier keep it on, if you don't use it why have it.

What's with the current crop of "wake boot for kiting" questions? What did everyone use prior to the few recent kite specific boots being available... Foot straps?

The questions more around the shred towns durability as kiting obviously takes a higher toll on the gear. Kite companies bang on about "kite specific" boots being reinforced etc but most of them are just re-badged wake boots anyway

So long story short, my other boots stated to fall apart so Hyperlite replaced them under warranty.

The new boots are much nicer, apparently the materials have changed. They are much easier to put on and take off and less pressure on the toes.
