You are a very bad man sparky and you know my demo days are just about over. But for one last general input why not...
Essentially if you think of kites targeted performance moving along on a spectrum with race at one end and surf at the other.
Even within the 'all round' segment of the kite market I have found they to run across this spectrum to a certain degree.
That is, they all have a forte or are 'better' somewhere along this spectrum.
That's because what you get for one type of performance you take from another. It is as simple as that. Until there is another leap in kite 'technology' this will be the case.
But what most don't get, until they have been on the water for many years (some get it earlier, especially if they are exposed to riding and trying multiple kites and brands along their relatively short learning journey (1-8 years let's say)), that each 'brand' has a certain 'feel' that tends to run through their entire range of kites.
That is the far greater factor to consider, as just about all 'brands' have a middle of the road, so called all rounder...does everything bla bla bla.
But you only get this from experience on the water, in different water types, on different boards, in varying wind type conditions, using different sizes, different brands and different kites. Eventually you will come to a place where the kite type, brand, board and sizes click.
...of course their are cases where a certain kite, from a certain brand and usually a certain size blends to produce what you need at the time, even if that is outside the parameters of the current brand you like the 'feel' of.
The other variable is where you are at, your personal goals...because the journey is not linear. The kiter and the kite combine hopefully symbiotically to improve and learn. Hence a certain type of kite may eventually run its course.
So until you have this experience, until you have committed yourself to going through the arduous process then asking people about a do it all kite is almost pointless.
Hence my favourite post is from Chris_M so far...
