Hi everyone,

I'm after some independent advise or opinions on the Ben Wilson Noise Kite. I'm an Experienced surfer but beginner kite boarder thinking about purchasing this kite as my first. I ultimately want to ride Perth city mush waves but obviously will need to gain some experience on flat water to learn the trade.

Will this kite suit me as a beginner??

speak to your instructor for advice or your mates who kite, failing that go to a few kite shops and listen to there advice, choose the one you feel knows what there talking about,

Well behaved, easy to fly kite. Plenty of pull and plenty of depower. Would be fine for a beginner.

Not an independent reply but we do know the Noise pretty well.
It is an excellent kite to learn on. One of the most important aspects of a true 'surf' kite is that it does what you need it to do when you need it to do it. Sounds like a good basis for a beginner kite to me.

We teach on them but only after an intensive trainer kite program gets your kite skills up to learning efficiently. There are certainly kites out there that are more suited to those trying to learn with no kite skills but if surf is where ur heading why not start on whats good for where ur going.

Great kite, with a good pedigree. If you want to ultimately use it for surf, youre on the right track. You dont need to learn on a twintip either. Ive taught guys on a surfboard who have never ridden a twin-tip and say they never will. Ive got guys upwind riding one way on their first water based lesson, for surfers switchfoot is a bit tricky though.

I wouldnt buy a brand new kite for your first kite. unless you can get your hands on a second hander?

your gonna smash it and have a lot of fun doing so. if you got the cash then yeah!
personally id be looking at spending no more than 700 on your first kite package.

bws kites are very easy kites to fly and ride in good conditions. i had the 6 and 8.

yo aidsbin, give the ozone catalyst a trial, great handling kite, good in the waves which you want to progress to,superb quality, easy relaunch as your gonna drop it in the drink, and not top of the price range, try before you buy, speak to aks or kitethrills good honest service ,also get a lesson,a kite can be a lethal weapon in untrained hands good luck cauncy

He is a beginner, Will this kite suit him........Yes, pimping other brands doesnt help him in the slightest. It behaves well, has an excellent safety system, relaunches well, depowers and drifts well.

A dude with a philosophy major. "when your a beginnner a kick is just a kick(kite) and a punch is just a punch (board), when you think your good, a kick is not just a kick and a punch is not just a punch, When you truly master something a kick is just a kick and a punch is just a punch. Be like water".
P.S. No affiliation with BWS, but I have taught on these kites.

Might want to get 10m one for your weight, specialist at beginning when you would go out in less wind.

The BWS Noise kite would be perfect for you! Its a super versatile kite, So if you wanted to do a bit of twin tipping as well as riding in the surf it would easily accommodate you. The fantastic thing about learning on this kite is that its super simple... there are no extra bits, other than the essentials that you need to worry about.

The 8m Noise has heaps more power than most other 8m kites. It has similar power to a 9m or 10m in most other brands.

Good Luck

Yeh it is a stable kite and would be good to learn on mate. But then try, demo, borrow as many styles as you can find, it is amazing what's out there.

I know the BWS kites have been marketed specifically for the surf, but they also are an excellent beginners kite, a fact which may have been overlooked.
The 8m is super stable, and will make it easy for you to learn as they were designed to basically fly on their own, The mistakes you make as a beginner wont be so difficult to correct.

a few questions have been asked about the ease of water relaunch, before you red thumb just remember this is a newbie without an instructor and radio helmets, you may disagree but the eyes don't lie

How do you know he doesn't have an instructor or headzone?? He's already had 1 lesson and is waiting for more before purchasing. A little birdie told me this. Your eyes need a check up.

Sorry Tony you got it wrong, maybe in that particular situation the kite didn't relaunch, probably others would have done the same.
The BWS is one of the fastest relaunching kites on the market and thats a fact.
The only issue I have with the BWS is slow turning speed, intentionally built into the kite, which for a beginner is a good thing

I sincerely advise against getting any kite as your first kite. Get a dog first, then a cat, then a baby. You need to learn responsibility before learning to kite. Once you've successfully conquered those 3, get a kite but only after getting life insurance. If you have the choice, get a boat and a car before the kite as well. Boats are way cooler, you can take passengers and fetch other kiters who are stranded.

So going on your own theory Tony,

When I saw you hauling yourself out of the drink at Mullaloo and dragging your new wave kite behind, which I SAW a month or so ago, I now know your wave kite has a relaunch issue?

End of this crap please
