I have seen the Flysurfer Boost 2 in action. It is in my bucket list of kites to purchase. I was with Spartan on Sunday. I was on my NEO 2015 7 meter kite and he was on his Boots 7 meter kites. He was able to go upwind better and when the wind drop off more I was walking to go back to the start and he was kiting. Cheers

Having just purchased a 13m boost, from James from Specialist KiteBoarding,
must say very impressed, am a raw beginner, but the kite is stable, easy relaunch, pivots great, goes upwind and has exceptional build quality.
Would not hesitate to buy another one, when ready to buy.

Generally we would discourage beginners from high aspect kites but I will say the Boost is actually achievable for a beginner.
It seems a little less knarly when compared to other high aspect offerings and re-launch is very easy. We have even used ours in our school here at times.

I would say the 11m is a one kite quiver

So this could be actually a 1 kite quiver for my crappy gusty conditions here? 13-22 kts? Ofc switching between 150x50 and some medium board? Also i am little under 70 kg's.Damn RRD's and couple of Rebels here for demo only :|Can u compare 13m? Is there any around? Is it slower, how much more does it actually pull etc...?

I know the 11 is heading over to Vic shortly, otherwise get in touch if you are interested to try them.

James is sending me down a 9m, let you guys know how it goes. Said my demo days were over becuse I'm set on my kite, but the boost does intrigue me. Plus James is as authentic as you can get so why not. Sat to Monday looks promising.

How much for an 11m with bar and lines then???

So had the 9m now kindly lent by James, for a couple of weeks. Had it out from 17 odd knots to 25 ish...over this time.

Construction, nothing to note except no worry here, all tickyboo. Fast inflation, bla bla bla...they've all go them now and most kites are very well made, including this one.

It flies as you would expect from this type of design. It's a really good freeriding boost type of kite. Hangtime (for an LEI) is its forte, especially for a 9m. I'm sure the bigger sizes would do the trick nicely.

Then it will track upwind very well to get to whatever is your mark. Likes to hunt the edge of the window but sits back in a good position to allow some static pull and also some rider friendly simplicity.

Also this allows some 'driftability' hence some tolerance for over flying it down a wave. It's all relative, you guys know this. So a good rider would get some semblance of
'All rounder..ish' with this kite, but it's predominantly geared for big boost old school riding for sure.

Lines are thinner than what I'm used to and superior (but let's face it north lines are sh1thouse in comparison). Still got the double handle trim thing going on, hey I set trim and forget so not a big problem for me, but I'm not a fan of this. Wouldn't stop me buying it though, its the wing that counts, not some stupid bar with some lines on it. It's a functional bar like all of them, those that make their purchasing decision on bars need their head checked.

Like all kites of this nature the wind range is very good.

So it's worth a ride for sure, if you are in the market for this type of kite. Worth adding to your demo list.

It's not a race kite per say. It sits more in the Rebel, nitro camp although all three have different characteristics in that part of the kite spectrum.

I suppose to get a more specific focus, it kind of sits between a rebel and an edge yet has a feel closer to ozone than north...

hence I would say it is more user friendly than an edge, has more all round potential ...again this is all relative.

More accessible boost potential in its lower to mid range than an edge, like the rebel. In that there is more obvious static load hence requires a less refined technique, especially in the ocean. Again the rebel has more obvious static load than the boost....it's all a function of aspect and how that works with the overall kite geometry...etc.

But if you are game and good enough, id say at its maximum wind range and beyond (as per manufacturers guidelines) then the edges greater 'race kite' potential comes into it Own.

that being said if you want to do more than go huge when excessively nuked then I'd rather be on a rebel or the boost and the rebel between the latter two.

its all horses for courses and what you want or more importantly what you need if you are honest with yourself. For instance there are few it any LEIs that will out point the Edge So effortlessly.

yeh ste, last two seasons, dice before that, but i'm on old school board off type tragic so the rebel works well for that, and some pretend stuff in the waves on a TT.

Wouldn't mind a smaller dice for looping though...The rebel 10m gets a little scary looping in 25 knots..lol, scary in that the loop is pretty soft and you wonder half way around if its gonna pull you through or not!!

Yeh man recommend trying both kites. Try and get on the boost 11m if you can I reckon to really work out it's boost and hangtime potential in 20-25 knots. 9m is always too small unless you are at 25-30 and the hangtime is never there in any kite for anything but a basic big boost.

it's why a run a 10m rebel, can still do board offs in 25 knots and have that extra float for hopefully landing it... always a trade off whatever you ride.

Hence, if you ever read hype about a kite that 'does it all'...run for the fckn hills. What one gives, the same design will take.

The boost is worth the time to try for sure, to see if it suites. it will come down a feel thing as the kite itself is good as any.

Update for anyone looking to try them - Boost 2 9 is in Perth now, there 11 is enroute back here from Melbourne, and the 15 is out on test over East.

I've had a Boost 2 15M for @ 3 months and only flown on snow. Amazing snow kite. Definitely the most fun & floaty, lofty & predictable boosts I've ever experienced(8yrs). Have flown a variety of brands and models. The range on this kite is amazing as I've had it out in gusts up to 30+knots & not felt like I was way out of control.

Has anyone experienced issues with abrasive durability with the lines? I had a line mount & gopro on(1st time on this kite) and broke a center line. The line mount is the camrig type with soft rubber keepers so I was shocked that the line broke. I also have a friend who has had issues with the thin lines cutting the attachment points at the leading edge. Anyone else?

Also found out if you need to remove the bladder it requires a special tool to separate the valve from the leading edge. This is mostly just an FYI for those who own the kite. I've had a couple of issues with the spring in the valve icing up so that after you pump it up & remove the nozzle it spews out half its air. Does anyone have issues with sand causing similar issues?

I love this kite. I want to love it more but am thinking its kinda like that 1 girl I knew back in the day who could turn it on like no other but makes you completely crazy otherwise

Have a 11 & 15 Boost2 and a 13 Boost. great kites, performance outstanding. am just a beginner, but kite most days when windy.

have had a similar problems with line breakages, thought it was just because I'm 120Kgs.

haven't experienced the problem, with lines cutting the leading edge.

love the kites but yes the lines, do drive me a little crazy.

one plus for me, is, I have learnt how to splice my own lines, with success.

generally, find the FS bars, to be overcomplicated. have a CCS bar that works, simplicity at its best.

as for the kites, they are as tough as you can get, and James from Specialist Kiteboarding, offers the best service.

I'd be curious to know the consensus on the Boost 2 vs LF Solo in sub 10 knot winds on a TT or surfboard... even though I know its a huge stretch at that low a wind. Looking for a kite dedicated to making more sessions.
I'm about 75 kg, has anyone tried a 15 vs 17.5/18 versions of these and can compare? Wonder if that trailing edge bridle option on the Boost does much in such low winds.

Well I know you probably don't want to hear it, but unless maybe if you have a superflat water spot and stable low winds, just forget about normal kiting in sub 10 knots - regardless of the specific LW kite you have, it's a hassle and more often than not it's boring. Foiling is the way to go in LW / sub10. I had a nugget and a 17m, but since I got my foil both are sold. No point in doing anything else than foiling in under 16 knots (10m + SB if the waves are nice) or TT in 20/25+... Skip the low-wind+big-kite step and go straight to foiling if you want more time on the water - a foil and a single strut 12 will have you shooting around out and about in 7/8 knots, no problem.

I bought a 15 boost 2 off James too.
Really enjoying it.

My thoughts regarding the trailing edge bridal...
Its prob the one biggest thing that sold me on the kite. The difference is huge. On one setting it feels like an edge then move it to the opposite setting and it feels quite choked. But the float is ridiculous.
So much so i have been riding it on that setting for months. It is the closest to foil kites i have ridden.
Now i have said that ill have to have a crack at the other settings again and even remove the rear bridal.
Really nice kiteloops too

My only dislike
You need to be much more cautious with wingtip line wraps that can br avoided by a little extra care self launching and being ready if the kite overflies you after a crash.
This would be better with the rear bridal removed.

Big LEI in under 10 knots ? Nah.......

im still using my Boost 2's and really enjoy them , but at the simplest level it's a 5 strut LEI and that makes it heavier than say, a 3 strut or single strut, or foil kite.

That's not to say won't won't be able to launch and fly it from the beach , but if you drop it in during a lull forget about relaunching - it's just too heavy.

Im having good experience with the Airush Ultras at the moment - I'm doing my shadow instructor hours with an Airush school and the ultra 15 is a beautiful thing in light breeze.

My favourite Boost 2 is the 5m I use foiling in 15 knots or more (36m lines !!)
