Yes, I think he does a nip and tuck of canopy but you have to keep in mind how many joins are done as it affects the price which is fair enough especially if he has to unpick stitching.

I think it is good off season business for him, good thinking on his part.

Lots of pictures of converted kites here. It's basically a cut and shut job. Cut off the tips and sew them to each other. Some bladder welding and plumbing and sewing on the handles. He says it takes more than 4 hours.

The basic work looks pretty simple. The details would be a pain in the bum.

You may be onto something!

I don't think the wing is as much as airfoil but more like a sail with some more angle of attack control. The lift will definitely help with getting going and staying upwind though.
