Today is what my kids call "an epic fail", the wind that wasn't.I kited mullas and came in just before it dropped, could have easily been caught out with a drop in wind like this arvo.

Sorry to hear your oz experience is coming to an end. Never quite met you! But all the best in your future places and I hope you have good memories of west oz to take with you mate.

Just a reminder for those new to storm kiteing..

Number 1. Carry a HOOK KNIFE !!!!!

If you see Squall coming towards you (the water will flatten out the wave peaks slightly with a white mist) it will hit the kite before you feel it on the ground/water !!

If too powerful, sit in the water with kite down on water at side of window - wait for it to pass (watch your fav brand jelly fish and distort like its freakn posessed :)

Cliffs on a beach, the UPDRAFT will be huge, keep one eye one the water/wind line always.. allways be ready to pull the safetys - fark the kite - save yourself...

Kite repairers will always be happier to see you.. R.I.P is not their favourite thread type!

Have fun jump big slash hard and bring back some tall yarns ;)

Cancel it and get a 4, just been down southbeach very solid swell, the is a perfect spot between the point and the slsc, big rolling waves and big butter flat sections inbetween, just had my aenometer up for 3mins gusts just over 40knts, poor shire workers are gonna be busy for a few days, the only place to launch is on the dunes

I was down the beach at Lancelin half an hour ago, I recorded multiple gusts of 53 knots . There no kite point anymore and another big chunk of the windsurfing park is gone.

Think I'll head down to Melville after work for a look. 30 gusting 39knots NNW should be cross-shore from the right. Will be interesting on the 7! maybe time to buy a storm kite for winter.

My office is on Level 46 Central Park, faces NW and she's a rattling, whistling, humming thumping banging machine this arvo!

You might have come in just in time John... That nearly 50 knot squall that come through would have blown you away! Where did you go out?
