That's bloody fantastic! Love your work. Can I be a little critical? The countdown timer is legible in daylight with my old buggered eyes, but in the shop, I struggle to make it out. Is it possible to easily make the font the same size as, say the Speed reading? I can get by with it the way it is, but it would be so much easier to read in a bigger font.

Yeah, I tried the bigger font, but the hours don't fit on there....which pushes hours and seconds off the page


I've switched to larger minutes and seconds only..... also with new background and new < 10 sec countdown vibrations Ver 1.5.1 what do you think?

wow i have been looking for a race app like this for a while!
Question with the app? Looks good but dose it have a sync ability when in race could down. example, say i miss the 5min start horn, can i start the count down a few seconds after the horn then wait till the 4min horn goes and hit sync to realign the count down with the start boat?
I hope this makes sense haha

You can start whenever you like, and as it counts down, if you are on the large countdown screen, if you hit start again, it will re-sync to the nearest minute in the countdown ie if within 20 seconds of -4 minutes and you hit start again, it will jump to -4 minutes exactly and continue counting down. ;) same with -3 -2 -1 and zero.

I am a slalom windsurfer and your app looks promising, but I can't figure out a few things.
Let's say I have a training session where we 5 races. I start the race countdown for the first one, finish the race, go back to the start line and need to set the countdown again. I have only been able to do that by completely exiting the app and starting a new session altoger. If I go back into the menu and the countdown, select let's say 4min - the watch vibrates, goes back to the previous (let's say Speed 1 screen) but the countdown hasn't started.

You need to either save or disregard the first session.. no need to exit. Saving or disregarding will reset the elapsed time to zero, if you have 4 minute countdown it will be at minus 4 minutes ready to start.

Also, if you miss the flag slightly, then just tap the start button again at the next flag, and it will re-sync to the nearest minute.

Hi Ron - Sorry the code is written for Connect IQ 3 devices, which enables a whole bunch of new stuff.

All devices pre- Connect IQ3 will have problems, as parts of the program will not run.

Sorry for thread hijacking, I have a question for Garmin owners, on my Fenix 6 I just use the "Other" activity for a "Track me".
Then after it's uploaded to Garmin connect I edit it and select Kitesurfing as the sport.
Is there a way to force this "Other" activity to be a Kitesurfing sport to save editing it each time ?

Alysum, if you use dachopper's Sail Racer app it will normally default to kitesurf activity

Sail Racer Version 3.0 is released and still free in the connect iq store., now supports race starts.What you get - existing pre race countdown timer, with ability to update the countdown if slightly off by re-clicking start when the flag/gun drops. Above countdown is your speed to the nearest end if off the ends of the line. If sailing below the startline your VMG to the closest point is displayed. At the bottom of the screen is speed required directly to the nearest point of the line, to arrive at the nearest part of the line at time = zero. Concept, make the two speeds match and you will nail the start every time.Requires accurately setting wind axis in the start area through menu-set wind. Then a sail past both ends of the start line after entering race countdown mode. Watch will display " set start a", approaching 1 end , 1 boat length bellow the line click start. Then repeat at the other end of the line to " set start b". Then required speed will show once countdown started at the bottom. "req 2.5 kt", and boatspeed or VMG if downwind of the line at the top of the screen.

I have a Fenix 5xplus for sale in top condition, It will work on that.
