Current quiver is 9 &13m slingshot octane and a 7m fluid ATV.
Mainly flying my 9m which I'm looking at replacing.
Fav riding is flat water boosting and bit of wake style, I've never been into looping but maybe it's to do with my quiver of kites.
I ride a 135 freeride with LF bindings.

I'm thinking 9-10m, RPM, EDGE, FUEL, C4. 2013-2014

Your ATV in 20+ knots would make an excellent looping kite.

Yes it does. But I find I don't get a chance to ride it all that often.

Rider ability or kite flying ability, also kite size, what type of boost would you like gut wrenching , also some kites need much more rider input on descent than others, also there's some kites which excellent at boost but lack in other departments, all important imo

OK - feedback from riding the edge. Awesome for boosting and hangtime but way too slow for looping. Got smashed doing a backroll loop and still recovering 6 weeks later.

Not the 7 but it's gotta be the correct wind, the 9 for me is the biggest size edge for being remotely dynamic, after that it's hangtime sizes, for example you don't see many edges in the king of air comps ,

The ATV boosts well and loops great, low end power is great as well. But I find it not so great for wake style, partially due to its small size.

What's the C4 like for boosting? I hear they require a fair bit of input

When you say boosting on flat water are you wanting to boost with a powered loop? I presume so with the 'bit of wakestyle' so you are not looking for a mega hang time kite ...or are you?

When you say a 'bit of wakestyle' how far into this style do you mean?

Your right Eppo the octane was a bit of an all rounder for its time, but was short lived due to flying characteristics.
I guess boosting can be acheived with most kites, obviously there is kites that go the extra distance.
Hang time is a definite as I don't seem to get that from the octane.
Powered loops are something I'm comfortable with on my 7m ATV but not so much with the 9m octane, so yes I want boosted loops with extra hang time .
I guess my type of wake style is quite basic, with just basic stuff like back/front rolls, raileys,
But looking to get the right kite that can help with progression.
Yes Eppo, I'm very vague with my description as I haven't had the pleasure of test riding every kite on the market like you!

Yes Eppo, I'm very vague with my description as I haven't had the pleasure of test riding every kite on the market like you!

If hangtime with some wake is your goal then I'd be looking at something like the naish park. A flatter type C. Even the airush VX. The blade mist would also be one to consider. Something like the rpm is a beautiful kite but more on the wake than the hangtime front. The dice is another but the park will beat it for hangtime.

What size edge r u on?

I have had an 11m edge for a couple of months now and slow is not a word I would use to describe this kite. I have been looping the sh!t out of it the whole time and don't find it slow in any way. One thing that really impresses me, apart from the incredible boost and hangtime, is the speed at which it turns especially at the bottom of the window down close to the water.....super responsive.
I would recommend demoing the edge. It really suits my style of riding which is boosting and hangtime for board offs with some free riding and pimped out transitions

Another kite I tried and found to be a great boosting machine was the Naish Draft, but ended up going with the edge.

I'd put the 10m Liquid Force NRG on your list of good looking, fast and high boosting kites to try.

Liquid Force has wakestyle in its roots yet this 4 strut kite is a very flat, efficient and high profile boosting kite.

It is definitely more fun and active to fly than the Ozone Edge, and yet has great boost and glide and even some drift.

There isn't much of a following at my local Botany Bay in Sydney... beats me why not. I have heard that LF kites are more popular in Qld and Vic.

It would be good to hear what you decide.

I'm with you on that Nathan, the are plenty of great kites out there, but the marketing of the brand isn't up to the likes of north cabrinahs ozone etc, I remember guys looking at my kite and telling me they hadn't seen them or heard of them, it's a bit different now with ozones, I've been looking for a kite that gets me ticking and have settled on the flexifoils, another very underestimated kite

It looks like I might get my hands on a 9m screamer and a 9m Razor for a little demo, both look impressive on paper. Cant wait to get a hold of them!!!

Nothing boosts as big as 9m Edge and the hangtime, holy. North Rebel 8m is awesome too and bit easier to jump hold the board edge loading up.

Get your hands on the king of the air comp in south africa and make note of the kites they are using!

Also there will be an 8m Ozone Edge this year so buckle up in the boosting department

Been on the edges since there release and always thought an eight would be a great size for the edges, the 9 is really smooth the 7 is very different in feel , you'd think it was a different kite altogether, and for me it needs to be very well powered, of all the sizes my biggest jumps have been on my 7 mix this with a bit more smoothness and it should be a great size in the edge line up, still wish they did a more robust version for us free riders, edge fr and edge race, makes sence to me

well there you go mate.
I find the 7m tricky to boosts sometimes when its gusty, the projected area is pretty small so it doenst like big holes when you hang up high. I think the 8m will be magic size in between the super grunt 9m and zipping 7m. I also think it will be awesome to unhook on. I don't get enough load on the 7m for freestyle and too much pull in 20knts on 9m.

The new Colour ways are awesome too for 2015 Edges can't wait yewww

Remember the chat we had on Dongara beack a few weeks back Chris, an 8 edge was discussed a fair bit, and we talked obout beefing it up for the likes of us, it's come a bit late for me as I've just ordered my new kites for next season,

Yeah I've had the 8 Edge conversation a few times lately Cauncy. I agree with beefing them up a little too. I patched a couple of small holes on both kites a few days back. I love the 7 in 35-38 knots but it does drop your arse if the wind dies mid boost.

Any word on a release date for the 8 Intheloop?

Do I need to start up another topic for the discussion of Ozones new 8m Edge?

Nah when I get one I'll give Eppo a ride

9m Edge in action. Would of bought an 8m instead of the 9m if it was available.

The last 2 king of the air winners used a Torch, they are also excellent for wake style.
Maybe a C kite like the Torch or Fuel is what you need, depending on what sort of level you are at and how serious you are on big boosts and wake style.
