Umm, we only rely on water, air, food and shelter to live. There's probably a large percentage of the third world population who have never been in a car.
I personally would prefer not to have a car but have no choice.
I choose to kitesurf which is why it is so important to me.

Gruezi's post is spot on imo. The beach access should be for all, and not the few who can afford it.

Always cabs. This one was also an experienced kiter (10 years or so). He admits that he was "daydreaming". It happened in Mauritius.

DOH... i forgot about the 3rd world. So yep - 99% is way out.
however - in our world, we do reply on cars, how do you think most of the food gets to you.
My point is that people would not do away with cars, no matter how many deaths they cause, whereas kites they would happily ban in an instant.

^^Just go up and down Melville parade knocking on the mansion doors....lots of lonely unhappy people living there who would even pay for company.

Back on topic all girls and wankers. Melville city council has put signs up finally..... After a commitment from them in March last year. I wonder how many locals have spotted them. They are tiny little signs on the back of the "no standing/parking on verge signs located sparsely on the street. many guys continue to gybe right on the shoreline and the bouys have made very little difference to people's behaviour.
many people are still teaching their "mates" in the area upwind of the competent group and most of the "locals" are sick to death of being kite-police as they just want to have a chilled ride and not be abused.
This is not a local issue as we see whats happening at mullaloo. It is in everyones interest everywhere to discuss reckless behaviour with the people concerned. Kiters have a very different perspective on the safety of the sport compared to the general public and that has to be recognised as we dont ban locations.......
Let's all stop the blame game euros, touros, locals, experienced Vs kooks. One of the most proactive riders at melville who has sadly left and gone back to Newcastle was Michelle (Nick and Michelle) you guys will be sadly missed. If a chick has the balls to say something we could all grow some.

Simple fix - put up a huge mother f***er of a sign on the tree that says "this tree eats kites", then watch all the kites get munched by the sign not the tree from no on...

PS: If you kite long enough no matter how good you are you will put a kite on the road / trees / etc. at which point you should rightly feel like a muppet. However if you find yourself (or others) doing it regularly maybe it's time to find a new sport...
