Talking of tuning line lengths, I have 2 2014 Ozone bars, identical. The safety line is shorter than the main chicken loop line. Unless the depower is cleated by 40mm, front lines will be uneven due to the tension on the safety. I assume this is typical, I just keep depower cleated off & no problem.

As for not rinsing bars. I don't think ozone kites aus use any bars long enough to see the long term effect of not washing salt off the stainless parts.

All Ozone stainless parts corrosion and fail if not constantly washed. They are obviously not using a high enough grade of stainless to prevent corrosion.
My advice to ozone. Specify all stainless as 316L, Particularly parts that are welded.

To add...Got a kiting buddy who never washes his lines period. We both agreed his line set doesn't last as long as ours who wash them. But he changes lines every year so he's not fussed.

Im with you, I just can't see how not washing bars due to the metal components makes any sense.

i am wondering though if washing the bars could increase the line set coating coming off Quicker than if you didn't wash them. I suppose the answer is to soak the bar rather than spray water over and through it...??

My 2 2012 bars have no corrosion on stainless parts, I've never washed them, on washing lines or soaking I've never bothered, an open weave dyne ems would be more prone to ingress , ozones braid is the finest I've used, Flexifoil the most robust, and norths look very fragile in comparison

Here's what I did after my last set of North Lines broke 3 years ago. Rather than paying North's outrageous price for a replacement set of lines (with their different lengths for front and back lines), I bought a 500ft spool of ancient Dyneema line from kite-line.com (www.kite-line.com/kiteboarding-gear/accessories/kite-lines/q-power-600lb-500ft-spool) for less than half the price and made my own line set. I doubled up the lines before I knotted it so the "single" line goes straight through and doesn't suffer the strength degradation due to the "bend" of a hard knot.

I've run this for 3 seasons now, often in crazy gusty 5m conditions in the Gorge and the lines have held up fine. Is it weaker than a properly made set of lines? Possibly. But it has lasted 3 seasons in some pretty intense conditions so that works for me. YMMV. BTW, Dyneema is a bit of a pig compared to normal lines - it whistles and it sucks to untangle but it's better than worrying about North's average line life and my bank balance. The Trust Bar itself is great.

It won't matter if you double the lines, any knot, bend or even a splice will weaken a line/rope (different materials/lays will weaken differently to each knot/bend/splice.)
Assuming the lines are in good condition, I'd dare say that the force they are experiencing is waaaaaaaay under its breaking strain, so the small % loss due to the knot is negligible. So long story short, everyone is kinda correct in Thai thread!
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the breaking strain of modern kite lines is?

Ozone lines are rated at 500kg for the front lines and 300kg for the rears. I'm not sure of the load rating though whether its breaking strain or working load, suspect its breaking strain.

Your gear is all pretty old isn't it (and that swivel looks quite old)? There is nothing welded where that broke, although parts of the ring that broke off are welded.
Nothing lasts forever not even 316, and none of the stainless kiteboarding components (from any brand) is made from 316 as far as I know? They are all made by a couple of Chinese manufacturers and are made from recycled stainless, because this makes the components affordable and generally more than durable enough.
I did not say do not rinse bars and lines and I said I normally do, as I did today because there are beach showers at most of the regular spots I visit. Soak in a bucket of water is a good idea.
Don't you think that after 11 years servicing Ozone products I've seen some old bars (all brands)? Sure none of my Ozone bars are older than 2 years, but mine definitely get a lot of use!
Go see your nearest Ozone dealer, they will most likely replace that for free, I would if you were in Oz.
