Missed the courier yesterday because we went for a walk when it was not raining for 20 minutes, anyway he came today late and it was high tide, so there was no beach and the bit there was is covered in brown foam from the floods. So I pumped it in the park nearby.
There will be a bit more of a blurb about the lines, but they are the latest version high modulus SK99 Dyneema = lighter, thinner stronger, and braided even finer for more wear resistance, and resistance to stretch/shrinkage. Same spec breaking strain, but the rears are 15% thinner, and the centres are the same size, but 15% stronger.

The kite is noticeably different as is the bag finally. The bag has the zipper on the side not in the centre, makes putting the kite away so much easier, spare parts compartment is not hidden inside.
The kite sits more upright, tips are noticeably squared off, the bridle is compact and short. Zips in the end of the LE to access the bladder are gone, and the tip tapers sharply with a velcro bladder restraining system.
Struts are reshaped with no segmenting.
LE is reinforced at every segment seam inside and outside (like the Reo V4 and Zephyr V5).
The kite is still a high aspect ratio, but has a really compact look side on, but very wide span from behind or in front, unloaded.
All thats needed now is some wind. I might send this one to Surf FX, but there are other demo's available around the country, contact your nearest dealer, they still have 8 days to snag a significant incentive from Ozone to put in up to 3 demo kites!!!

Flew it today. Got about 15 mins before the next rain squall, initially just flew it on the beach as I did not think there would be enough wind to hit the water, but was surprised at how much bottom end the V9 10M had, so I quickly threw on a wetty and grabbed a 1.35x41TT and hit the brown slop that is our flood polluted ocean at the moment. Got a couple of runs, not enough to make any great statement, other than it certainly does still fly fast and now turns much better. It does not pivot turn like my usual kites (Reo V4), but I had flown a 13 V8 edge a few times recently and its noticeably tighter turning than the previous versions.
I can tell this kite will also self launch easier, as it was much easier to self launch as rolls up onto its tip very willingly.
Very stable in the sh1tty squally southerly, lifty and powerful for its size. I flew it on the stock out of the bag settings, middle steering and middle knot on the lines, no trim.
Hoping for another session on it in better winds soon. iPhone7+ pic processed in Lightroom so it came out with my sig ha!

Bit hard to tell from pics but have they added scuff pads on the leading edge where the "segment" stitching running 90 degrees to the le where it wears from continual self launching ?

And if anyone is upgrading to v9 and has a v7 or v8 8m or 9m edge for sale pm me

Ozone has increased the amount of reinforcement at each segment seam on the Reo V4, Zephyr V5 and now the Edge V9 to extend behind the canopy.
They have not added a bulky plastic/foam reinforcement on any seams due to the weight these would add. The current reinforcements will last the life of a kite. A lot of research was done on the materials they use, it is lightweight and very tough, we are not seeing issues that it fails.
I self launch a lot and although I turn my kites over yearly, I don't see any real wear in this area, but I have refined the technique so that my kites do not slide much, if at all.
If kites are sliding a lot when self launching, and I see lots of this, then basically the kiter is doing it wrong. Tether launching is another option. If you have harsh, coarse sand or gravel in your spot, consider a tether and use a plastic tarp.

Im not saying it to boast, more to acknowledge that I personally do not own kites for more than a year. Its my job I literally have to do it, but you know that. I do see plenty of older kites from all brands, and I see them all wear from self launching, its impossible to avoid if people do not know how to do it properly like you. I assisted launch a top 3 brand kite last year, with the bladder clearly visible from the LE being completely worn through next to the heavy reinforcing foam/vinyl at the segment seam, proving that those patches will not stop wear through if someone is careless.
Does not matter is a few stitched on that reinforcing patch get worn through, the actual segment seam is still unworn and well protected (on any of the main brands).
I can't remember ever seeing an issue with the Ozone method of protecting the segment seams, excluding fair wear and tear or plain abuse.

When I look at many brands I see things that are done for "shelf appeal", things done to make a brands kites seem more indestructible than others. Heavy foam bumpers that protect a tiny section of the le are an example.
A good example from a few years ago was when all leading brands (but not Ozone) covered the leading edge closing seam with a strip of non structural tape, to make it look like their seams were more reinforced. This piece of tape did not reinforce the LE closing seam and just added weight and major complexity and cost if the kite needed to have the LE seam opened to re-attach the canopy or patch a hole in the LE.

New lines look awesome and glad to see bar has remained very simular :) as for the edge looks very nice and im likeing the strut reinforcement simular to my C4s which is great.

Did they space the struts valves further down the strut/away from leading edge? Hose looks longer so no kinking etc. Looks great

Looking forward to getting old and retireing so i can actually use one of these kites and be excited about big jumps :-P until then i have knees to blow out and rotor cuffs to grind out with my c kites :-D

Be careful of these Ozone Kites the seams will just up and pop on you one day. Two dudes from my local spot both had their edges un edge

Hmm, there are thousands of Ozone kites out there being used everyday, right now, not bursting. Two kites popped, post some pics, you know sharp focused ones, so we can all see the condition of the material around these "pops".

Ozone makes a super high quality product and back them up with exceptional customer service and support. I've owned a retail store for 18 years that sells multiple brands, and Ozone is by far the one brand that has the least warranty issues.

Agree ^^^ . But in this case the persons you describe just happen to be the owners of KP which is what really stinks about the whole thing. Back on to the topic Ozone Edge V9 , I wouldn't mind a spin on one , whats the chances

... just wondering, is the aspect ratio the same for all the sizes?

As an owner of all models of the edge here is my thoughts
I had zero issues with the kites pre race days, the kite then became highly raced focused, and why not as they won everything year after year, multiple world titles and dominated the top 10 places, this is when I had some issues but I accept that I was possibly using them in a manner they weren't intended for,
I've seen the new construction of the kites and as always they look superbly manufactured but with extra strengthening in load areas amongst other tweeks,
north kites had some issues with their dynos suffering major canopy distortions , especially if you rode them with a focus on jumping,
Anything manufactured for its performance is always going to relinquish its durability
Its great to see they've listened and returned the edge back to its intended use, I'd encourage you to demo one, then make your decision

I have ridden the edges for a number of years and froth on the big airs and hang time. I'd be keen to upgrade to the V9 but at nearly $3000 for an 11m with bar and lines, its getting too expensive. As much as I'd like to buy it, unfortunately I'll probably look at other kites.

If u have ridden edges for a number of years, then u would know that the price hasn't changed much over the last 3-4 models....

I justify the cost of my equipment this way....

I keep my kite and board for approx. 2yrs before upgrading, I would average approx. 100 sessions a year (twice a week).

If I am lucky, i might get around 1K for a 2yr old Edge, so if I burn 2K in 2yrs that's roughly $20 a session....cable is $40 per hr.....

Oh, and I pretty well only use my 11m....it's as close to a one kite quiver as u can get

My mate was informed by kitepower to over inflate hes 11m V8. To stop the the leading edge from buckling when jumping.has this been addressed on the V9.

No-one at Kitepower told anyone to over inflate any kite. Some people were concerned about the tips wobbling when jumping on Edge V8's and they are informed to make sure that they pumped the kite up firmly to approx 7-8PSI, which sorted out the issue for most people in most conditions. Some people say they still experienced a small amount of instability in the LE only when jumping, particularly in stronger and gusty winds but never at any other time, this was only happening when the kite was being used well into the upper limits of the kite and the rider, and in speaking with the designer, beyond what he had designed the kite for.

The New Edge V9 is a completely different design, no-one has ridden it yet in decent wind in Australia, but I have heard from friends overseas that in their opinion its the best 5 strut Kite Ozone have made.

The Edge has slowly increased in price since its release several years ago, it was always the highest priced Ozone inflatable kite. In that same period of time, fuel has gone from under $1 per litre to around $1.30-1.40, all food has increased in price, all clothing, cars, and all our other toys too, thats life.

Wages in China, Vietnam and Sri Lanka where basically all kites are made have increased 30-50% over the last several years and materials costs have too, so quality kites have had to go up in price. (Wages and average incomes for Australian's have also increased by similar amounts over the last several years too)

I've also noticed my leading edge seam stitching wear through as well, but still holds together, doesn't look good, why don't Ozone use something stronger wearing like a Kevlar thread? just saying

Like you said the cost of living has and still is going up for mums, dads, families ect. I certainly don't believe there's been a wage increase over the last 5 years. Out of curiosity from a kite companies perspective what is the average income of your target demograph Of kite users and does it change for different kite models?. Genuine question apologies if it comes across passive aggressive, but I have always wondered or do you not look into the market this deeply?

So many brands are delivering far more competitively priced kites made from comparable materials. Switch kites are under $1k a third of the price and have a decent warranty policy.

ozones warranty policy is to flat out arrogantly blame the customer and acuse them for their defective R&D and Quality Control.

How about this price increase start a warranty program hey Ozone?
