You are so right..

The next day I went out 12m 12 - 15 knots, decided I would just ride and consolidate. I realized that although everything felt good, I could ride and turn the foil easily my feet were too close together.

I figured that Slingshot wouldn't have place the strap locations incorrectly and I must be doing something wrong. Though trial and error I have now corrected my stance to the point I could put the rear strap back where I had it.
However a step back to go two forward worked for me. Thanks to you and others for all the advice on this thread.

Thanks for the advice guys put the mast back and was a big difference, was up and riding no problem, felt like I could cruise along up on the foil as long as I wanted. Was a funny old session forgot my straps today and had to ride strapless, strapless water starts took a little to get my head around haha ??, looking forward to another session tomorrow Managed to nail heel side to toe side turns going one way, next challenge controlling speed going toe side, there were a few exciting turns going toe side back to heel at speed definitely got my heart racing and some serious burn in my legs haha.

It's great you are able to ride toe side. The key to controlling speed as you come around to toe side is having your kite HIGH. If you come around and the kite is too low, you will get the downwind speed run and it becomes difficult to bring your kite up once this starts.

Lots of comments about foot strap positions. I strongly recommend a single front foot hook. It is all you need to water start and once going you really don't need it. Eliminate risk of getting foot caught in a fall.

This is a pic of my set up for kite & prone. Custom 5'0 epoxy board by local shaper & NP Glide foil, 65cm mast - medium front (75cm) / small stabilizer.
I love kite foiling in light wind but prone is were my interests are.
