teaching mostly 16-25 year old students for the last 10 years, it's amazing how many of them love the songs from the 80's, in particular the early 80's. it's almost like it's the one decade full of universally liked songs that appeal to all generations, cheezy or not

For those in Sydney - did anyone watch the acclaimed concert by Joan Armatrading a few nights ago? Recorded at The Royal Albert Hall in 2011 with minimal props, she appeared to play many songs I have not heard before, yet time and time again was singing vocals to songs she wrote - while playing solos on lead guitar at the same time. And she was age 61 at the time.

Next night on ABC was a doco about the reformation of The Stone Roses. Bit past it, yet attracted 200 000+ to 3 Manchester concerts.

- just music to I am the Resurrection. Trippy, prolonged outtro.

i've been teaching sound production and av type courses on and off for several years and they've usually been big groups with varying ages. i often wonder if there will ever be another decade of music like it?

Well the 2014 thread was the shortest music thread I think we've ever had, barely 2 pages and maybe half a dozen green thumbs in total. This decade has got some catching up to do.
