I've been tested positive for it and feel like I've just completed seven pre season training sessions in a row.

The quack was really helpful telling me there was bugger all I could do about it other than noshing anti inflammatories.

Amongst all the wise individuals on here is there anyone who has sage advice as to dealing with this.

I'll keep it at the back of my mind. I'm very wimpish when it comes to electricity owing to a couple of unfortunate incidents when I was young.
Plus the last time I copped a zap from an electric fence has left me decidedly wary of them.

Back in the late 80s the place I was living most people had it, damn mozzies, the local docs advice was to take sudafed it didn't cure you but it made you feel better enough to keep on working. We could buy it over the counter then but you proably need a script now for a cocktail of psudoephadrine and codeine.

I got it about 3 years ago, first health issue I've had that really wore me down. I'm 40 years old and worked in construction most of my life, doing heavy labour. I pushed on with work for 2.5 years, and have taken the last 5 months off. Was too tired, joints were to achey and got too grumpy to keep working. My knees were hot and sore for months and now they are fine. Sometimes my fingers would feel arthritic, also for months at a time. My elbows these days are a bit rough, hoping that will pass soon. I gotta say I feel better now for taking the time off.

My suggestions would be don't push your self too hard, you might make symptoms worse and last longer, like I did. I've heard of this being the case with other people and can say its true for me. Consider anti inflammatory food options, ibuprofen or if you can get a script for stronger anti-inflammatories like Celebrex, get some of those.

Some days you'll probably feel alright and other days you might feel the opposite, so try and be patient with it.

Last thing is try to keep the stressful elements of life, like work, dodgy relationships, high physical output to a minimum, not sure that stress is directly related to the symptoms or not, but it does seem so.

Yep I got malaria which sort of sucked and than the next year I got Ross river and Kulin virus at the same time.
Really messed me up for about 4 months and was worse than the malaria I got.
malaria kicked my ass for two maybe three weeks and than I got better slowly mind you I got Ross river after having malaria so that may have attributed to it ravaging my body.
on a good point I lost 12 kg

anti inflammatories do help but they rot your guts and if you have a real bad dose you will have to take them for a couple months and not poo solid,

Things not to eat which will really help recovery
do not eat tomato or acidic things I still don't eat tomato now which is ruined spag bog and pizza a few times I have and the next day even now 18 months later I know all about it with sore bones.

poly arthritis,,,,, I took the anti inflammatories for about two weeks but they messed my gut up, I really really recommend seeing a nutritionist a proper one.

The only thing that really helped was having baths and sleeping and eating right heaps of greens and non acidic food,

Do not drink alcohol...... it really extends the recovery time by a lot and you will be bedridden for a day or two if you actually have a few beers or vinos, I'm talking anything more than two or three drinks.....

The electric fence thing did not work for me and believe me I took a good zapping, it did seem to help a lot when I let go for about ten minutes because I wasn't getting electrocuted anymore so that felt good but I don't think it works

Instead of eating painkillers for a couple months you can utilise hippy methodology and use the devils lettuce to help sleep and eat, I did not have that luxury as I get drug tested for work and also the wife would of kicked me out.
but the nutritionist and other people I spoke with said it had helped them a lot.

i caught this when i was about 34,but also caught dengue fever at the same time,absolutly stuffed me and the aches and fatigue are still with me today and i am now 58.i never found any thing that would relieve it other than soaking in hot water.

It really sucks big time because I'm pretty careful about my health and I like to be active. This has floored me!

I was also hospitalized with malaria way back when and the quack said that the results showed that I'd had Ross River before but my guess is that it was the malaria.

I also had a really nasty reaction to Ibuprofen four years ago and won't touch them now. I had migratory itching all over my body and felt like a boiled egg had stuck in my throat. I was on the point of going to hospital when it subsided.

The devils lettuce sounds like a good plan. I also get tested but at this stage I'm beyond caring!

I read a good article on the BBC a few weeks ago about how the nutritional value of food drops the moment its been picked from the tree etc.

The rate of drop was alarming to say the least. Eat a plum straight from a tree and then eat one from the supermarket and even FN would be hard pressed to make a case the supermarket version is not crap in comparison.

Try the Dr Sebi alkaline diet. He recommends drinking lots of water as well.

Get a good amount of direct sunshine and turn your wifi off when not in use.

Lots of rest.

I did Sandra Cabot's Liver Cleansing diet a couple of times. Worked wonders. I'm going to embark on a long fast and starve the f^cker out!

But yes lots of water.

One thing my dad did when he had Ross River Virus that he felt gave him a lot of relief or reduced the symptoms .
He turned of every transmitting device in the house. The wi fi in the house went off so did the radio telephone connected to the land line and he only ever used the phone plugged into the wall, he never carried his mobile phone he actually turned it off and left it in a cupboard.

A the very least if you do this it will save the rest of us a bit of trouble debunking your Conspiracy Theory's and pointing out the flaws in rubbish you post as if they from reliable News sources.

Was in denial for about 3 months eventually went to the doc when i had to support myself getting out of bed my feet couldn't support my weight without a lot of pain. The other thing was the fatigue getting home each day sinking into the lounge then trying to get up when some bugger had whacked what felt like 30kg's in your lap.
Once I had been to the doc got the script for the Celebrex I can't remember the dose it got a lot more manageable although fatigue was still a bit of an issue.
Anyhow from people I have spoken with it seems a bit different as far as recovery goes. For me it took about another 6 months to feel a bit closer to human, and probably about the same again to get some fitness back.
Stick with it use the anti-inflam's always with food, they do seem to be ok for some and a few more side effects for others. It will get better

I've scoured every "alternative" medicine site to try and find some idiot douchebag cure so I could post it here but nothing.......I was looking for something like eating cat sick through your nose or pushing your car keys up your arse.......but nothing........Big Pharma!!!!!

Agree when I got it saying I was bad for three months the actual time to get back in the water and surf for longer than 30-45 minutes was around 6 months.
Even now 18 months plus on I still don't drink which is probably really a good thing and diet needs to be watched.
If I surf now for two three hours the fatigue after is next level but I'm trying to just eat well and increase physical activity time.
first six months I'd nap pretty much every other day sometimes for waaaay longer than is considered a nap (3-4 hours)

Another quick thing is if you get a super sore throat it's likely from eating yeast and you have thrush because your immune system is overloaded, rough times.

Non steriod anti inflammatorys are band aid solution, occasional use of a steriod anti inflammatory such as prednasone, side effects as with the other Pharmos I mentioned earlier have to be respected but the get up and go ability of these types at least occasionally shines a light in the desired direction, a taste of normality, or log mans suggestion of pushing car keys.....
Anyway I digress, back to where I was recovery ?

I got Ross River when I was super fit, didn't make any difference knocked me over for 2 weeks then long slow recovery, biggest downer is now when I have a few beers / reds muscles / joints gives me heaps next morning lots of inflammation , I don't think you ever really get back to where you were before.

Having said that just suck it up and get on with it soon the ailments just becomes normal.

Locally it it's not unusual to also get Barmah Forest virus at the same time heard of cases people couldn't get out of bed for 12 months.

Thanks for the call-out, but its okay, I am fine. I buy only the best tinned vegetables, so I am sure I am as healthy as.

I grow my own tomatoes at the moment, but they are only for decorative purposes.

I had it in 2017...it sucks! The only treatment I was advised by the GP was to alternate Panadol and Nurefen every two hours. Unfortunately it will last for about 6 weeks, so just continue with the Netflix and chill as best you can. Good luck.

I took an anti inflammatory three days ago.

As you know they're small and I just popped it without a drink and went downstairs to muck about with my mushrooms. I became aware that the capsule had lodged in my gullet. It wasn't uncomfortable enough to warrant going back up stairs , a mission in itself, so I just ignored it.

Until it dissolved. Then I couldn't ignore it because the contents produced an acidic burning sensation which was very unpleasant . It passed after a glassful of water but it left me wondering what the ingredients were!

I drive concrete agitators for a living and use cleaning acid on a daily basis. Very similar!

According to Joyce Riley from the Power Hour Show - spices are the key to fighting bacteria and viruses in the body.

But not the irradiated ones you buy from the supermarkets.

Buy them non ground up or if you have to buy them ground up chose local growers only.

Spices coming in from overseas are irradiated by law.

Thanks for all the feed back. It's a funny old environment Seabreeze where we snipe at one another, and I know I'm probably one of the worst, but as we saw with Petermac's tragic accident people's true nature frequently pops to the fore.

I slept for 13 hours last night, woke up well rested but every joint hurting when I move. It's even a mission to straighten a bent leg!

Astonishing how many people are affected by it. Bloke told me yesterday that it comes from ducks. Looked it up a few minutes ago. There's list four pages long of wild and domestic animals that carry it. Top of the list is water rats 100% of which tested were carrying it. I spend quite a lot of time on my boat on the Clarence, (avoiding the rent trap), so I'd say that's where I picked it up. Im doing an experiment to see if I can knock it on the head by undertaking a long fast. I've been doing regular 60 hour casts for quite a long time and have gone as long as nine days so it's nothing new to me.

If it doesn't work at least I'll save a heap on food!

Ih and I've made a commitment to withdraw from the chocolate market. Forever!

Mozzies are the transmitters. these days I maintain a health disrespect for the little f..kers, burn coils spray chemical bla bla. My intro to it was west of the range, but yeh it's more frequent lots more on the coast

I got it in 2018. The worst of it lasted for just over 9 months and I still have the odd relapse occasionally. Was very lethargic and joints very stiff and sore. It really knocked me for six as I was super fit at the time. The anti inflammatory medications helped a bit, but what did make a difference was cutting out highly processed foods ( salami, bread, sugar, potato chips etc) and alcohol. The change in diet did help as I noticed that if I slipped up and ate something I had been avoiding, I was usually sorer the next day. I was running my own business at the time, so I found it hard to slow down. Over exertion and stress definitely magnify the problem. If you can don't push yourself too hard and eat properly.

I got in Byron bay of all places and fairly certain new year's eve.... Do not fall asleep on the beach near a fresh water area...

I had severe joint lain, fatigue and lack of concentration. What helped me was rest and eating super healthy.... HIGHLY recommend you take, even if you don't have RRV, tumeric in almost every way you can. Important to mix it with pepper otherwise it does not absorb. I think you can also use lemon juice with it to make a paste... I swear it is the main thing that got me back to health after about 2 months...



Read up on tumeric benefits and how to best cosume it. I got 2015 and it came back (mildly) a year later but have not had it since.
