One of my grandfathers found it good to be retired, and spent a lot of time tinkering in the shed.
I think the other one didn't want to retire and started making all sorts of things to occupy his time once he was retired. Lucky for us grandchildren, we were the right age to take advantage of all his time.
Edit, every now and then I meet someone that is retired and they find good sailing spots all over the place to occupy their time. Sounds good to me! North in winter, south in summer!
