I'm pretty skeptical as to the abilities of a lot of them through experience but I needn't elaborate.

I didn't post the information order to start a debate. If you take a dekko at my original post it was just a link, no comment. I did so for no other reason than I thought it might help to disseminate the information. There's enough misery around at the moment. If Borody is right the knowledge may help to save someone's life.

The usual suspects always come in to bat for their opinions. If they're not careful they will end up in the sin bin with HG

Is there any society in the world that can demonstrate herd immunity yet? The USA?

There are still questions about whether herd immunity can be reached, which no doubt are the same questions about whether a vaccine can provide lasting protection.

Still, until there is some dramatic proof one way or the other, the world is going to approach it in different ways.

Maybe the US will one day turn the corner and have herd immunity and become the powerhouse of the world again and show those silly Chinese that they needn't have locked all their people up and stopped their economy?

*Japan does not really have rest homes, to the level and degree that the west does. An interview with a Swede was saying that the majority of their deaths were in hospices or rest homes... And didn't the US especially NY use rest homes as over-flow? Flu deaths are most common in that demographic too so ... a possibility.

On the positive side if its getting done in a trial its a good thing. Its no use having someone claiming its a 100% successful and no one testing it to see if they can roll it out to others.

I didn't realise that they were already trialling it and have started looking at it in April.

Just because you made your point 'clearly and concisely' does not mean its right. Sorry, I mean to say that even with one person's opinion, granted he is a doctor, that it does not necessarily mean its a good treatment.

This is entirely separate to my own viewpoint that this particular drug is probably very safe.

Just as a first person account... when I was deployed to East Timor in 2005 were were given a dose of Ivermectin to ward off potential parasites and worms that were prevalent there... Not sure if it is exactly the same as what is being proposed now but we did have a chuckle that we were getting 'drenched' before we went.

Aside from the hardly noticeable twitch.... no problem at all....

There's also the fact that it's illegal to leave your house or even put your wheelie bin out after 8pm.
Police also have the power to enter your property without a warrant. Children can be removed from parents, for little more than a sneeze, and kept isolated for weeks.

That really is a disturbing statement but I'm really not sure exactly what you mean by it. The rest of the country is well aware of what is happening in Victoria, people are contracting this insipid virus and are dying, thankfully the numbers are reducing and you are whining that you cant go shopping with your wife.

Instead of being angry about the political decisions being made how about you redirect your anger at the selfish, entitled na?ve individuals who couldn't or wouldn't follow the basic precautions and created the situation you now find yourselves in.

You are not the only one doing it tough but to read your account it seems that you think you are, I have family in Melbourne and it is bloody hard not to be able to rescue them from this situation, phone calls and video chat is not the best substitute for a hug. I also have family who live in a border community in SA and the situation with Victorians (Melburnians NOT their neighbours) sneaking across the border, infiltrating their community and potentially spreading the disease is causing a lot of anger amongst locals. My family can only take steps and act responsibly to protect themselves and those around them, what others do is beyond their control.

To save your community from a pandemic you have to stay inside and watch TV for a while. You're not going to a gulag.

You can go to the shops, just not with anyone else at the same time. If you need another person to be with you then maybe you need to reevaluate your ability to navigate around this world? This is to stop people saying that they were just going to the shops when out talking to friends and spreading.

You can't exercise for 1 hour a day and instead prefer to spread it out over 20 hours? Maybe you are superman, but the rest of us seem to get by without more than an hour a day.

You need to hug someone or give them a handshake? Do you not have a voice to tell someone that you miss them and hope they are doing well?

I really think that a lot of these rules are meant to stop people using excuses when they get caught.

As if anyone cares if you put your bin out after 8pm... but its a handy excuse if you are caught out the front of your house.

Here I remember when the lockdown was still in place but you could go to Bunnings. There were heaps of people that seemed to accidentally meetup at Bunnings looking for stuff, but really there to chat to their neighbour they hadn't seen for ages.

How's the case in WA recently where the girl had an exemption to go from Vic to WA but couldn't afford to pay for the hotel quarantine. So she convinced some truck driver to smuggle her across. The cops found her after not seeing her arrive at the airport, and she now has a 6 month jail sentence.

It sounds extreme, but think about the impact of that one person if she did have Covid19 and for the sake of a few thousand dollars she infected heaps of people in WA and would have cost millions of dollars in direct costs and much more in indirect costs.

(Yeah, what are we doing talking about these topics that should have been on HW? HW=bad. Non HW=good.)

Does anyone else think that some of these people getting across these borders might have something to do with drug running? If the borders are locked up, it must be pretty tough to get the odd recreational drug across states.
