Generally you are right. Rules (law) are created to improve life quality, organize things....
That is in theory. In practice this rules are created in such poor way that they exclude each other/ contradict them self.
At the end citizen is not able to adhere and render criminal already. Everyone.
If I attach 24 h recorder to yourself - effect will be such that in first twenty four hours you will provide enough evidences to serve civil offence penalty say $150 parking tickets, speeding or too slow stopping at signs. After a week possibly you will qualify for light detention for repeating offences.The moral for the history is that if poor actor has a chance to brings dogs legally, no hassle, just simple administration procedures , fees , done.
He possibly will do this for peace of mind. But it is simply impossible or too much hassle.

Lorikeet -just happen to be native bird here, was almost impossible to import here . After spending 3 months waiting for quarantine and thousand of dollars on procedures I finally gave up. Not feasible.The point is that Red Tape undercover as official law is just a cover for negligence in creating proper law for all people to obey.

Beside that all parody of justice just show how hollow our law enforcement security system is. The guy was able to smuggle dogs , crossing our borders, but what about stash of illegal drugs he could carry in the language same time ? Where were border control officers? Or private jet don't need any control ? Even worse....

Yeah, Pweedas, I just happened to I agree with his sentiments on this issue in that video Chris M posted. It was quite amusing until that point, but Karl actually made me laugh out loud. Strange but true.

I am told by a family friend [who up until recently was a quarantine poobah], that the Royal corgis were all vaccinated, tested and complied with Aussie quarantine regulations whenever he dealt with the paperwork prior to HRH and co. arriving with the dawgs in the colonies.


I am not too sure how often the corgis were brought along though, but at least they didn't get smuggled off the aircraft [or ship] inside somebodies hand luggage like Depp's mutts.

The Queen's corgis stayed the minimum ten days in an Aus quarantine station? Well, I'm surprised the old girl would have agreed to that.

The way it was explained to me, is that quarantine can be at approved locations outside Australia - no idea of what constitutes "approved" though.

At a guess - in the days of marine travel, being stuck on a boat could be called quarantine, but with air travel?

Interesting Stephen, I have checked out out the gov website regarding all this but didn't see any reference to that option. That's not to say it doesn't exist, but they haven't made it easy to find.

Doing the minimum 10 day quarantine here isn't cheap, $1,500+, god knows what it used to cost when the minimum was 30 days. That rule changed last year, which is good, but a new rule was implemented, which is not so good - there are now no more visits from either you, the owner, or the "Dog Walks" people, who if you couldn't be there used to be allowed to enter the compounds to be a mate to your dog, try and make its stay a bit nicer and less clinical. Now, you put your pet on the plane and that's it, you don't see it again or hear anything about it from anyone until you pick it up. You can't even meet it at the airport to wait with it until the "staff" come to pick it up.

It's easy to understand why Depp did what he did, I'd have done the same in his place.
