No one wants second hand stuff any more and everyone wants new junk.

Yep, the furniture was all hardwood and steel frame and will last another 50 years. But people would rather buy something shiny that has pine and particleboard construction and will be on the kerb for council clean-up in 5 years.

Today I sold an old boat motor to a shop for about half the price I could have sold myself . Just not worth the hassle.

When selling stuff on those sites I just take the attitude that the human species is a weird and wonderful thing. The entertainment value alone is priceless.

Yes, as the guy was walking out of my house with 2 lounges, dining setting, two bookshelves, all for the princely sum of $60, he started looking around my house and asked if he could also have the floor rugs and coffee table in our lounge room. Seriously? I guess I should have given him my car keys as well.

Buyer: Sold, what's your address and what time will you be home for me to pickup?

Me everytime: I'll be home at 5 o'clock, the suburb is Point Vernon I'll text you the street address at 5.

I always figure there's no future in telling a total stranger your address if they know you won't be home.
