I also just don't get it. Why can't they get married? How on earth does it make any difference to everyone else?

Most kids until they've been taught to grieve, feel no loss when people outside their family unit die.

So lets face it, what difference does anything make to you? If somebody dies or starts thinking different how does that impact on you?
What if we started allowing incest, would that make a difference?
What if we started ritual sacrifice?
But now if you take society as a whole and forget about your ego centric view, maybe then it does make a difference.

Now try and compare morality of today's average teenager, with that of 70 years ago.
Imagine a homo couple adopting a child.

Mmmm, I think you are misunderstanding what I wrote. To simplify : what right is it of yours to decide someone else's relationship status? Now that is an egocentric view - thinking that you get to make decisions for other people about what is best for them and imposing your will on them.

I am pro gay marriage and I don't see why gay people should not be allowed to adopt.

Stich, I think the marriage thing is ok but adoption not so much. I was adoped at birth buy loving male and female parents and that in its self has affected me alot, I can only imagine how a child brought up by two males or two females would fair. I copped heaps at school because I am adopted, children are very cruel and have good memorys

Not a very good one. In fact I reckon that his license was probably revoked.

God was gay.

He had twelve male disciples pandering to his every whim.
If thats not gay what is.

God is the source of both sexes, containing both ying and yang but being neither.
I think in order for me to ascend I need to be one with a female, thus shedding both our identities to form a more complete being... an ascended one.

What sense does it make Felix. How can you say that the principles and morals in the Bible are not worth following or aspiring to reach. Society has really gone well by not following them hasn't it!!!!

Thank God for that. Opened a random page in the bible while drinking with some mates once. Turns out that if we don't want to keep a slave girl we abducted in a raid we have to shave all her hair off before sending her home, if we didn't kill her parents in the raid.

Or the fact that Christians follow the new testament and but the anti brigade always drag out old testament stuff that was done away with 2000yrs ago.

Does anyone believe society would NOT be better if everyone followed what Jesus said, to the letter?

Yes, let's start with the following guideline: Matthew 15:4-7 quoting JC - 'Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.'

Now prepare the other cheek

D1 - I think if you read that in context, in verse 4, Jesus was quoting from the Old Testament where the Jews were instructed, and obligated to care for their aged parents physically, emotionally and spiritually, not a bad idea i am sure you would agree. By Jesus' time the Jews were so far removed from their God they had turned their back on His instructions and had abandoned their God given obligations towards their parents. Even worse, they were saying to their parents "I have the means to look after you, however I have dedicated all my belongings to God" with the full support of the corrupt religious leaders.
In affect they were blaming God for not being able to look after their parents. That is why Jesus spoke such strong words.

Gunna1, you are of course correct, but I was just making a point about the dangers of following certain sayings "to the letter"

I think I bother them, when they knock on my door early Sunday morning waking me up, I say "Oh I really want to have a chat to you about Jesus, but have something on the stove, can you please wait here while I turn it off"
I shut the door and go back to bed.
Always wonder how long they stand there waiting.
Im going to hell arent I

Not really. This nation was founded on Christian principles such as equality, tolerance and forgiveness.

Yes we know communism/socialism is founded on equality too, just so long as some are more equal than the rest.

These are not purely Christian principles. This is a classic argument which obviously is underpinned by the erroneous notion that one cannot be moral unless they adhere to a particular religion such as Christianity. This is a very weak argument especially considering the Christian churches stance on homosexuality, gay marriage, anti-ordaining of women priests etc etc. the list could go on but I haven't the time.

Here is a racist joke to round it off:

Two black guys are at a Johannesburg bar talking. One says to the other,

"You ever notice after you have sex with a white woman that Your eyes burn, your nose burns and you get all teary-eyed?"

The second Black guy says, “Yeah, all the time.”

The other says, "Why is that?"

The second says, "I think it's the pepper spray."

...but it's what we all say. It's innate.

Christianity, as a religion, is, to me, wow that's a lot of commas, a cargo cult, of sorts.

No. Brush up on your history. The colony of NSW and Van Diemens Land were penal colonies in the 1770s which did not include WA,SA or NT.

Nationhood did not happen until 120 odd years later. The founding fathers wrote our constitution which the corrupt British Aristocracy found necessary to edit in subtle ways to ensure their control and influence which continues to this day.

The founding fathers had the highest moral intent and where influenced by Americans in Australia and the American model of a democratic republic.
