I have my brand new Hilux this month and my first impression is how hard suspension is in comparison to anything else I have been driving so far.
East Germans Trabant will be the closest comparison but still not even close.But maybe that is because springs are completely new and need few km's to loosen up?
Maybe I just need to throw something like 1tone on the back, to make the ride more comfortable?
So, in my opinion, it could be good work horse vehicle, but a comfortable suspension for long driving definitely is not. I feel every smallest patch of the uneven road surface, stone even fly driven over, and amortizes instead of dumping vibration amplify that oscillation -so instead of single jump on the bump vehicle is resonating multiple times up and down on the springs.
Doesn't mean that I am unhappy with the vehicle.
I still didn't make more than 150 km so I may adopt later on or buy a cushion pillow to put under my butt.

Hi Lux's etc were originally designed with the idea in mind that they were to be sold to people who needed something unbreakable for their employees to drive. Hard springs are good. Slows the apprentice down on bumpy roads. My employer once had me drive across the Hay Plains in a Ford Courier!

What people will voluntarily drive for the sake of fashion!

If you're any sort of serious 4x4 driver you wouldn't buy a NEW
Bt fiddy Lux or triton unless spending big coin on 4x4 extras
ask yourself would I spend 50 k on a new hilux spend another say 10 k on 4x4 extras
to go smashing into rocks getting panel scratches smashing difs ect ect.didnt think so

back to the question, I have a hilux SR5 dual cab and love it gets me along the beach with boards
dog in the back seat ,tools to work ,toes a boat van and trailer well.
they have good resale I know as I sold my last 22yold hilux for $9500.
ticks all the boxes for me.

They take the Moose test pretty seriously. i doubt the tyres are not pumped to spec. They all distort the tyres when turning hard whether they fail or not. The Moose test specifies a full load.

Ha, heard my computer mumbling in the background and found you tube had slipped thru to a test on a revised Hi Lux that Toyota has modified for the European market. I think he says they upped the tyre pressures and recalibrated some control system. I suppose you can get away with higher tyre pressures on smooth European roads.
