Here's my own vaccine experience from the heart of the pandemic.
I work in a major public hospital surrounded by hundreds of people each day. I travel to work each day by public transport - 45mins in each direction. During the pandemic we only had a couple of weeks of work from home - the rest of the time we had to come in. I coordinate medical students. Over the last three years I had continual contact with about 600 students who were daily attendees at wards and clinics throughout the hospital. I have worn a surgical mask every day of my working week for the last three years.
I am quadruple vaxxed with the pfizer vaccine. I also recieve the flu vaccine each year. I have not yet had covid, and I have had ZERO ill-effects from the vaccines. No soreness, sickness, nor symptoms of any kind. Overall, during the pandemic, absenteeism due to colds, flu, and gastro bugs went down markedly. This is presumably due to mask wearing and extra focus on hand hygiene.
In summary, as far as my own experience goes, I have spent years travelling to and working in a very busy hospital coming in to contact with hundreds of frontline health workers. The vaccines and other health measures, I believe, have prevented me getting covid and have not had any detectable adverse effect on me.
Same positive experience.
I work at a school with over 1800 students and 200 staff (All vaxxed) no vaccine related sickness. A few students, mainly unvaxxed, have long covid, apparently :) covered by parent info not medical.
The seriousness of having Covid has reduced with the vaccines. Early cases at the school got very sick. Recently students (Mostly vaxxed) and staff (vaccinated) are saying the symptoms are very mild. 80% plus have had Covid. Not me yet that I know of.
