Ive been watching this show for a while because it's fun .
I also picked up on something that disturbs me a little .
Although I'm an old fart and set in my ways , I am more than totally OK in the modern world . In regards to religion race and gender confusion .
I have to say I'm cool with all that , and to be honest , it was a learning experience for me .
All is good.
This is what I'm not cool about...
Whenever gay people are on the show , or religious bent topics arise , Waleed , ( the Muslim presenter ) , will not play the game of fun that I'm watching . In these situations he will not talk , clap or acknowledge , just sit there and say nothing with a dumb look on his face .
He normally has a lot to say.
It happens over and over again .
Tonight , again talking to my wife about this , made me take pen to paper. OK it's one finger tipsty iPad work.
There was a funny gay girl , singer , talking about her girlfriend .
All good .
Waleed did not smile , clap when everyone else did , comment or anything
How is it just , that I am all accepting and Waleed is in full view allowed to show , ( and in a strong way ) , his religious bent ?
Such a high profile show , with high profile funny people .
How do these people even get along ?

Good observation and post. I haven't noticed Waleed doing that but I'll start looking from now on. I generally love the guys ability to cut through an argument. It is surprising to me how he seems to be able to press certain peoples buttons tho.

It's social engineering not the news. Why we would have anyone religious presenting their opinions on national TV, let alone a crackpot minority one (australia) with extremist tendencies , is questionable. what's next a scientologist or 9/11 truther? Waleed always makes me cringe.

I don't think Australians like to be told how to live and he is the guy on that show that preaches his thinking. Its never balanced reporting.

I watched the episode on catchup, and I don't think Waleeds reactions are that different. To me, at times he seemed like he stood back and let the other hosts take over.For most of that episode he was sitting back with arms crossed, not just the part where the girl was on.

If you are religious, and accept other people's religions, does it mean you automatically are open to everything? I doubt it.

I think he did interact a lot with 'G-Flip'. Are you sure you didn't miss that?

I could understand if he was a bit unusual though. I am sure if things are very different to your own way of life or experiences, it would be a bit more difficult to joke about them. You may not hate them, but you would show a difference in your body language, whether its being more attentive or otherwise.

I think if someone started talking about discrimination of muslim people in society, or discrimination of gay people in society, I would also probably be quiet for a change and listen more. I don't have much of value to add to these topics, so I probably would be less involved. It doesn't mean I feel less for these topics, just that I couldn't add more.

If you look at his posture during the whole show, its consistent and doesn't change just for GFlip.

I wonder if he does get concerned with how his fellow members of his culture feel about certain topics and if he has to dampen down his interaction sometimes because of this?

I actually kitesurf too! I was just trying to carry on amirite's joke about him being Homophoic because he didn't shake hands with windsurfers (which I also do). (Amirite? Causehecan? They all sound the same to me.)

I stopped watching it years ago, just because, but because of yesterday's comment, I watched it on catchup and am watching it again right now. Its not bad. Just light entertainment.

I think I know every MASH rerun by heart, sadly. To show you how crazy I am, I even watched the Rove program on Saturday night. I think they shouldn't have cancelled it, but fixed it up instead. TV stations are so fickle these days.
