Always have a bit of a squiz when I'm there. Today they had heaps of cool stuff, including a jack hammer, a toilet, a toilet tent, beer steins, a 12v freezer fridge, solar panels, compressors, portable generator/invertor, car gps reverse camera stereo - lots of cool gear.

I rate my pressure hose, tv, and these cool iphone controller power points, shavers, smoked salmon, many diy tools, self pumping double bed prety high.

What is the definative list of all the good/bad Aldi experiences?

Unfortunately, by the time something gets reported as being good, it will no longer be available. I have to admit I buy one of the special items almost every week.

Those chocolate covered licorice covered pieces in the confectionary section are awesome

I used to work at Bunnings in the tool shop and would laugh to myself when customers came in looking for spare parts for their $15 angle grinder or batteries for their $20 drill that they bought at Aldi and would get really upset when I couldn't help them.
Never ever said this to them cause I was a professional salesman with many years of experience, but, "You get what you pay for and you can't polish a turd."

i saw a story in the paper , Aldi have the rights to sell ACDC beer , on sale soon to coincide with their tour ........ they are a clever company !!

Have an Aldi compressor, used hard for 3 years now with no issues and still has good compression.


Don't buy Aldi helmet, unless you have an Aldi head.

Mid 2016 , the warehouse is close to built in jandakot behind the spudshed,well provided non of the structures fall down like a few months ago ??

I have had it with Aldi electrical stuff. The 8inch tablet was a piece of crap and the 24 volt battery drill was ok but the battery was crap.

Most of their foodstuffs are great, best dunny paper and definitely the best hommous.

Aldi's eye fillet stakes. Used to cook them all the time when there was my turn to cook a diner. I am over the stakes now.

8 pence for a tin of baked beans, I could live for a fiver if push came to shove in the uk,also it'd give Coles and woollies a kick up the arse if we had one in gero,

Mixed salted nuts are fresh and nice.

I bought a cheap rechargeable drill 4 years ago.
It's way better than a very expensive other brand drill that died after a 3 years of use.
The Aldi one is as good as the day I bought it.

Everywhere else mushies have gone up Aldi's are cheapest by far.

Watch the quality of vegies at some stores.
My view is the person in charge doesn't always know how to look after them.

There is no doubt Aldi has had the effect of pulling prices down, so where possible I support them.

15 dollar bottle of shiraz = very good

I really think they have the best mid strength beer on the market.

Guys, LED light globes on sale this week. I fitted out my entire house with them last time they were at Aldi. They are a nice colour, and they are also dimmable. Best of all, they have no delay and won't fade over time like the compact flouros.

Yes I am! Bunnings was my retirement job and I made an absolute bundle as a salesman previously.. You may have gotten a lot of green thumbs for your misguided smarts comment but don't presume so much about people..

Bought a camping fridge 3 yeas ago. Still going strong. I see some of the other camping shops have now selling the same thing (branded differently)

Groceries are a sh6t load cheaper but limited. Annoys me having to go to Woolies for 1 or 2 things but I guess the overall savings are worth it.

40L Fridge Freezer there yesterday for $500 I also went back for the generator/inverter today. I was all sweaty driving over there, raced in the shop but good sense overcame me, when I found out it was $150 more than I wanted to pay, it was also a 2000w when I think 1000kw would do me fine. I'll probably regret it.

Bought some well known sports brand compression shorts from a well know sports shop and cost a bit!
Bought some Aldi ones on a sports catalogue special for about 16 bucks from memory.
The well known expensive brand gave up the ghost in the "compression" dept and was like wearing undies when the elastic goes. The Aldi ones are still going strong keeping the goodies in place!

Aldi wines and beers are generally good.

Rivet beer though cheap is not good.

I like the Spanish red they sell, its call something like el Toro Macho and is only $5 a bottle. Its won some awards in an Australian wine show.

They recently were selling plant seeds and I picked up a few different packets for $1 a packet. Cheaper than the Reject Shop's seeds. I've planted rocket, cucumber, lettuce and corn from Aldi seeds and they are all sprouting.

We use the Aldi Expressi coffee machine. The coffee is not up to expresso standards but its better than instant and is easy and quick to make in the morning. The hot chocolate the machine makes is better and I think the machine is better suited to making hot chocolate than coffee.

They aren't all that cheap though, if you don't need dimmable!

I read a recommendation for these on whirlpool, bought a 10-pack. No complaints but they did send 1 x bayonet by accident, in an Edison screw box. Lucky I have exactly 1 bayonet fitting in house, so could use it. Would buy again and $3.70 each vs $9.90 each at Aldi.

Having a 2nd look I don't think it's that clear cut.. Aldi appear to be charging the same regardless of brightness (and it's less than last year). Every other shop in the world charges more for brighter LEDs. Most places list the Watt value whereas Aldi's only giving Lumens. Both are pretty unreliable anyway. But point is that the Aldi ones will be good quality and if this guy is correct the 1055 lumen ones are 13W and the 1300 lumens will be bigger again. They seem to be pretty high values, most of my house is done in 7W or 9W, i've found it plenty for most rooms, especially as most of my rooms have 2 or 3 running off the same switch.

TL;DR: it's a good price for the super-bright ones
