I've yet to hear of a million dollar riff being produced by a musician via a QWERTY keyboard.

70's boomer rock has it's place.. great in small doses.. once a year maybe else it's zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz boring.

Never heard a million dollar riff electronically? Come out from under that rock some time eh?

[warning.. done to death]

Well I scored 3 out of 5 on riff recognition KBD. But won't count the prodigy riff as it could quite possibly have been composed on an electric guitar and transferred to fully electronic later on. Anyway, it sounds better on guitar.

Were any of them actually million dollar riffs? Just about any one of Keef's riffs would have out grossed the lot of them all put together.

At 5.40? Gets the drum machine going along nicely from there on.

More "ambient" than "chill out" or "beautiful", but nonetheless 58 hours of Ambient Electronica I've collected over the last four or five years:

open.spotify.com/playlist/2b3mWBb2bJaumu6otC6Q1l?_php=1

mmm, pretty cool...you have great taste....

Bit too noodly for me.. I like your singles playlist a lot though

If you like ambient, try this sometime.

Maybe it's just me but for some reason astronaut conversations are just fascinating.
Even if they're just talking about doing a bolt up or something mundane.

somafm.com/lush/ for Sunday breakfasts : )

I'd put this in the "beautiful electronic music" basket.

Had to run it a second time to take in the bass, the drums stole the show for me. Maybe that's just me, new territory, are you supposed to be able to take in both at once?

Although not exactly "electronic music", I present this track as potentially "beautiful music".

Here you go Ian, aussie guitar punk band that saw the light and went electronic. The tension in this track is amazing, interplay between beautiful & soothing and tense & dark..

Thanks KBD. Not quite there yet. I'm aware that a novice to a genre of music will at first perceive it all to be blandly all the same. You need to get the framework on board before you can pick up on the nuances. But "electronic music" is as broad a terminology as "piano" or "fiddle" music. What genre is that one? I've heard its likes before.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_electronic_music_genres ( "Beautiful" is not listed amongst these)

The Mighty Boosh takes a bit of getting into as well.

I asked one of my girlfriends the other day, "What does a windsurfer do, that makes them so great in bed?"
She reckons that when a beautiful chest high set comes they instinctively do something with their sail because they just wanna get on it
I'm still none the wiser how a sail has anything to do with it??
She's so silly

There's a river boat in Paris on a canal next to a busy road. They run an internet radio station out of there called LeMellotron. All these local kids buy 404s and they just sample stuff all day and make beats.

It's probably not easy to appreciate electronic music if you're not used to listening to it. That bass was sick!

Dave, nice find !!
A lot of Electronica seems to have French connections.
Some people must outlay many hours to achieve desired outcomes. I've had a go on Reason and Ableton only to produce inaudible rubbish and spent yonks down it.

But not this guy.
He invested 7min 57sec for a smash hit !! No remixing nor a cover didn't even open his mouth

After a quick blast back to 1979 I put my dancing shoes on and things are lining up
My mum still insists that that's her at 1:08 sec , she's so friendly . No wonder I still don't know who my Papa is ??
Was hoping it's the guy at :55 sec he seems nice . Ciao

I am surprised no one has mentioned the Godfather of electronic music... Jean Michel Jarre.
