The rout continues, ETNZ making it look easy at 4-0. Day off tomoz, a GB regroup, then a single race on Wednesday.

Was interesting for the first leg, but the Kiwis seem close to perfection on all counts. As per previous posts; clinical execution and win.

Have heard that the race committee are aiming to get a result this weekend, ideally finishing Sunday. Appears if ETNZ pickup 2 wins today the next racing might be Sunday, all weather dependant and day to day.

Agree he's a dick, bit pretentious. He used to be a NZ Sky Sports presenter and league game new sideline commentator goes over to you Steve and his reply was "Best you call me Stephen", the sideline guy never returned!

I enjoy Glenn and Shirley's comments as they are sailors. But also listen to onboard comments and kiwis are talking with more input from trimmers. Along with Pistol Pete and Nathan (he's really a kiwi now!).

F'n game on people. One day off, nervs gone and bit between the teeth. Kiwis have there SF faces on...

So 4-2 with another lay day. Boot is on the ETNZ foot to regroup after the 2 losses. It looked like coming off the foils pre-start in race 5 was the result of over confidence for ETNZ. Just trying too much in tricky light conditions. They handed GB the opportunity and it was just the tonic they needed. Race 6 was the strongest start for GB and they did not look back.

So a day off for ETNZ to collect themselves. They need 3 wins to lift the cup, half the races on offer this Fri-Sat-Sun. GB are in the fast lane now and need to stay composed to gather 5 more wins.

There is a decider scheduled for Monday if necessary. Hopefully this weekend should see a great contest unfold.

You could almost hear the collective groan from the crowd when the Kiwis fell off the foils at the start after a late entry into the box.
I have got so used to seeing the boats just charging around regardless, I was a bit surprised the sloppy sea state and light wind was such a challenge. Boat speed of 4 x wind speed still seems outrageous to me.
Now I am a bit nervous for the Kiwis.

And his explanation of why a 90 degree Y foil is so stable - the lift and leeway are decoupled. Which is exactly why a slapper is so stable.... and slow. And maybe most importantly, trimming with cant angle uses battery power, trimming with sail sheeting requires the cyclors to work harder.

I was there for the LV semi finals & agree supporters all got on well & there was a really good vibe in the village area.

Never seen so many floating palaces & super yachts in one place.

Kiwis were a class above, would have liked to have seen one day at upper wind limit just to see if that made any difference

So Barcelona is off the table for the next round. Plenty of protest from locals.
As a kiwi I would love to see the racing back in Auckland and government is open to discussion with TNZ to spend money which would pump up our economy. There's always the argument that AC is rich man's sport and spending tax payers!

Interestingly not a single Barcelona local I spoke with was anti-AC, got a few sideways stares on public transport and I didn't speak with them... Generally it sounded like the same complainers that bemoan everything and contribute nothing anywhere else in the world. Mostly I heard how well behaved and likeable the sailing fraternity was, nothing like the usual football hooligans or average tourist that rolls into town. Locals were also happy money was spent transforming an average area of the port into a clean usable set of new spaces.

As for cup battle returning to NZ, the event management was spectacular in Barcelona, not to mention the weather and the sangria. Wherever it goes next will have to meet the high standard/expectation the AC Cup management team has set working with Barcelona. Maybe if the city of fails can get their act together with the the upcoming SailGP event, things might start looking better for NZ.
FYI here's a shot of the fleet and headquarters that ran the event. Logistical nightmare seamlessly executed.
