Don't be too concerned about the wrapping Shifu. Tom Slingsby is on the helm of the NYYC entry and he sails everything like he stole it.

plenty of other aussies in the mix too. Nathan Outterage is hooked up with TeamNZ and Jimmy Spithill is again on Luna Rossa. Good to see a strong presence even if Australia can't get a syndicate together. Just adds another layer of intrigue, NZ Vs AUS.

Another great looking boat (though they look like spaceships and not boats). AC is the only sailing domain in which I find foils interesting (along with ocean racing).

Sure is 515, there's good eyes on YouTube looking over the footage for the innovation and differences between the boats.
The new twin skin main sheet control onboard TeamNZ is next level.

I seem to remember there are also bladders in the sails somewhere, were originally aiming to stop complete rollover I think.

The gossip is yes, different tensions port and stbd. The battens can also be dialed up to induce shape, think this acan be done on the fly. Lots to do when going flat out...

NYYC tested a boomless system last year on their old boat. Serious loads! Others used a boom below the deck allowing end plate for the main and most jibs sit flush also.

I reckon like many things in the 21st century when viewed from a 19th century perspective, it would first appear as if it was mostly magic. The old school crews were on the yachts to race and once getting over initial shock, I doubt they'd be nostalgic. They might simply be in awe of what is being achieved with a racing yacht, much like many of us lay-sailors today really.

Before the last cup I got to see them close up training in 25 knots when I was out sailing on my mates cat. To see these boats up close is amazing
