Sydney SUP festival and Scotland Island Race -pics
What a great day it was - smiles all round from everyone who participated!
The 2k short course was run down-wind to the lee of Scotland Island and the full 6k course came around the island into a nice little head wind that tested even the best paddlers. Plenty of boats were on hand to bring the short course paddlers back to the club for lunch refreshments overlooking the demo area. The time trials were run in the protected waters of the Marina.
Dates for Sydney SUP festival and Scotland Island Race 2016 - February 20 -21 2016 The event will include a 2k, 6k and an 8-10k boat assisted course for 2016 with the possible addition of a BOP race.
Sorry for taking a whilst to get these pics up , but they have come from a few different sources.
Hmmm - decisions! Kissa, Andy from Naish and Sam from JP who drove up from Melbourne- these guys are always supporting our local events (despite the drive for Sam)! Congrats Kissa for taking out line honours in the 6k round the island race
Jill backing up after the Newcastle BOP the day before - gutsy! Andy and Jimmy neck and neck into the wind. Is there a GPS sponsor out there somewhere for Andy? Stiff headwinds coming back - John from Oneill having a go! Dig deep and smile Scott! Congrats Tammy for line honours in the women's 6k race Mel - powering! Smiles all round.... Corner cutter!
Lucky man Jeremy turns up and WINS the $800 SUNOVA gift voucher - he chose the 10'6 XXX style Rob Brown from the Royal Motor Yacht Club doing what he does best - smiling and staying calm even when the pressure is on! Winner of the SUP ATX Scout ( name escapes me) - totally STOKED as she was looking to buy a board anyway! Winners are grinners - the Montgomery family always go away with a swag of prizes and trophies
Congratulations to all who participated and paddled their hearts out, the majority of whom went away with a trophy or a prize from our generous sponsors who support many of the great events on the east coast and beyond. Support them for supporting the sport.
