Unfortunately we are limited to Sunday before 9am in the warmer months as we are working from a Sailing club and school who's needs take priority.
Also, after 9am you just cannot get a park close by on a hot day at Balmoral.

From speaking to just about everyone involved in racing in and around Sydney the sport is growing and big enough for another series, run once a month.
We have been asked to do this consistently at every demo day over the last 4 years and waited until now because the demand has hit a critical level that makes it worth whilst and we believe will not impact the other series significantly. There is a growing number of paddlers around the harbour and the Eastern suburbs begging for a series close to home. The dates (which are our Demo Days) are carefully chosen not to clash with other events.
I have spoken with Sam@JPP and if it becomes a big issue we will look at moving the times in the cooler months if we run another series.
Afternoons though are out unfortunately. Maybe we can look at back to back timing with an hour in between JPP and Balmoral for the next series?

As a keen local racer it is great to have another series on the north side of the harbour, but extremely disappointing to see it clash exactly with the JPP Time trial which has been well established for a couple of years and supported by SPSC. Effectively it just means smaller groups of people paddling at each event which isn't good. Last couple of years I have supported the Sydney Paddle Festival and raced, thoroughly enjoyed the event.

You might need 3 hours between events if you're thinking that way. Following the race at JPP Sam and her staff put on a BBQ and the best coffee in Narrabeen. We all hang for an hour or so and get into a bit of "SUP Banter" while we chew on our bacon and egg burgers.

We have all winds and angles covered. Conditions are actually looking pretty good for Sunday. It should reach about 16 knots on Sunday morning in open waters.
Our corner is protected from the South and SE,so we have a course in the bay. Here is a fly over of just some of the options we have.

The shot at the beginning of the Vid is facing North so the whole Bay is pretty protected.

Bummer. This would have been fun. I thought I'd try my first Sydney Paddle Surfing Club comp today so had to miss this. Shame they clashed.

Yes it is a shame that you cannot organise a new SUP event now without clashing with something 2222222.
I guess when it comes to the decision wether to run and clash or not run, so as not clash it really boils down to the support that you get from participants and so far we have had very good feedback.
Our race is a little bit different in that it is a harbour race with sections exposed to open ocean which is great for those wanting to venture into the ocean without going offshore.
The good news is that the next two races in the Balmoral SUP series do not clash with SPSC surfing. If you give me your name and contact 2222222, I will enter you into the next round for free!

A bit of a mash-up from the first two races. A lot of pics didn't turn out from yesterday - must have had sea spray on the lens from my random boat driving!

Stoked to get this course on so early in the series, it showcases the best this area has to offer crossing in front of Sydney Heads

Great effort all-round from a dedicated crew, especially Kate who comes up from Canberra for each race!

The third round of the series will be held on Sunday January 17th 2016 and there will be a new element of 'fun' added to celebrate the New Year.
