New Kiteboarding Original series 9m
This is a biased review.
Dont read it.
The 9m is a pretty good size to first describe as its the middle of the range and its about the average size used in WA.
Im about 90-95kgs wet and ride 133 x 40 cardboard twin tip (soon to be 143x40) in Geraldton. Averagish rider and Im not a fan of light wind cause it sucks. Im an Aries and like to put peanut butter in my 2min noodles
Anyway I find the 9m basically my most used kite. Usually I like to take the 7m but the 9m gives a bit better bottom end when the wind drops below 18knts. The 9 is pretty fast turning and can be put in the right place at the right time easily so it works well with a surfboard fo me in about 16 - 25knts.
The top end of the kite is fully controllable and awesome fun. Getting over 30knts is lit! I max out unhooked about 24knts on this kite.
The 9m kite is pretty stable when top ending due to ESP technology and there is no sign of it inverting when fully sheeting out and edging hard.
The power fully shuts down when leaving the bar out and sending the kite across the window, its amazing..
There are 2 front line attachments. The front factory setting gives bow style depower. There is a lot of depower in this size. Sometimes the kites wing tip does a little movement for my weight but it doesn't effect the kite or disturb the lift. The second front setting has more sustained lift and lighter bar pressure.
Turning is smooth and there is no sign of flutter. Turning pressure and sheeting presure is light but gives good feedback for kite reference when it is flying fast.
The wide tips make it easy to relaunch from U shape. I just grab to the end of the side leader line and pull. The more side line I pull the more the kite pivots on the spot and just takes off.
Made a boo boo and rolled the kite. All the lines twisted, But it wasnt a problem. The front line Y is long. Its good the crossed lines had longer twists and less of an angle to bind up. When I got to the beach I just let go of the bar and the kite glides down. Then tied it to my board. From here its easy to fix the lines cause they are all straight and sortable. This is the same way I land the kite at the end of the day.
Hope this is helpful
