Redink King of the Cut-SUPWA State Downwinder
Here it is, the big one after months of planning!

Opinions were sought and listened to as to where and when the best downwind conditions were in the State. It was a no brainer in the end, the Peel Coastline has it all - great waves, consistent wind and great direction.

We have a contingency for different wind directions so a race will happen on the day. Great cash prizes on offer and free goody bags from 32GI for all competitors.

Minimal Safety gear - PFD 1,2 or 3 (Inflatable type 1 is recommended), leg rope and 1 orange smoke flare.

Entries close on Monday the 3rd of December. If you are a non-SUPWA member you still pay $50 through the the SWA and pay the extra $15 on the day (sorry the site can't accommodate different pay scales)

Late entries will be accepted at $80, so get your entries in early.

foam glassed boards / hollow moulded boards
It would be very interesting to hear everybody's point of view on this topic.
I am not talking about "if we make a mould we need to make that many boards the same shape...." and "if it is shaped we can change it more often..."
We all understand that
What I would like to understand is:
As a paddler, what are your perception and your expectations for each boards and as a board buyer, what do you feel are the pros and cons of each boards.
If you can specify if you have paddled both category of craft (even if it's not a SUP) please do. It will help to understand if we are talking about belief or perception

Renew that old board
With the emphasis on racing 14' boards rather than unlimited, I had an old DC 16' with steering that just didn't sell on Seabreeze.

A great board but more suited to big Hawaii conditions than ours with the front one & 1/2 feet of the board always out the water. Think DC, Lacey and Alain amongst others owned it in the past.
So I decided to strip it back, removing the worn out deck pad strips and two coats of paint to find a full carbon board. A deep breath and i cut off off a foot off the front and back and shaped the nose back using a 9" angle grinder. I redid the new nose again with carbon but found it was too blunt and wide, pushing water so back to the angle grinder again.
This time i attached extra foam to round out the sides of the nose, adding extra volume to the top and base of the nose. A quick paddle and was impressed by the lack of noise and glide. Then the long process of sanding, spraying in two pack and fitting a new deck pad.

Next project maybe take an older white Javelin with a sunken deck to improve stability and painted Fanatic red to go faster.........

could this well be the fasted flat water board
We just got two of these thanks to Dale prior to heading off to do the Molokai ,
full custom DC carbon
16 x24 flat water racing machines ,Galvo raced his to second in the whale bone race on Saturday in the ocean first time on it only to be beaten by Marcus on the DC 14 foot flat water which has a bit more of a tail so a bit more stable in the chop , think Galvo may have got him if it was a bit further .
Took mine for rip today on the river over the Blackwell reach 4.68 k track just to com-pair my times from before , well i was blow-en away 9 min quicker 27.33 doing it solo
yes there was a slight out going tide but also had head wind to knock into .
So the big question now is OPEN BOARD CLASS yes or no?

P.S and this board has no wake so good luck wake riding it
