I hate reading this thread because I own two NP Fly wings - the standard poverty pack ones. I've really enjoyed using the wings, and now I'm just waiting for something to blow out.

Shame as I went with NP as in my old windsurfing days them and Gaastra were the flashest on the market in terms of quality and performance.

Apart from a slight twist in the frame, which I've seen on Dacron wings from other brands and doesn't noticeably affect performance, and dealt with under warranty by Pryde - a big shout out to the UK rep Karl - I've clocked roughly 170 hrs on Firefly's in mostly standard construction, no worries for me.
In fact the warranty process should give you full confidence if you have any problems. I had quality issues with a wing from another brand and was fobbed off from the start.

That's rough!

I had a standard Firefly a couple of years ago that ended up with a twisted frame, one side of the canopy was under tension, the other bagged out. I was lent another standard Firefly until my - replaced under warranty - pro arrived, it did the same within a couple of sessions. The pro seems fine, and from what I know the new 26 wings have a revised construction. The previous generation were constructed in two halves and then stitched together, not ideal it seems. The pro does have a lot more stitching in critical areas compared to the standard. Time will tell.

I've been using Firefly wings for about a year now, mainly 5 m and 6 m. Recently I noticed that the stitching on the leading edge is starting to fail. A friend of mine was riding a 6 m Firefly and had the leading edge blow out while foiling, with the bladder coming out. After that he decided to switch another brand. I emailed NP to ask if the stitching has been improved on the newer models, but never got a response. I really like how the wing rides, but now I'm a bit worried the same thing could happen to me. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with these wings?

Do you have my pictures you can share?

Sorry, any pictures?

I did not take a picture of the blown out wing but it was very dramatic as you could imagine the bladder is balooned out from the leading edge was very dramatic.

I've got the firefly pro, the construction looks v good ... no issues for me.

Would have been good to see some pics to see how this developed.

czerka, are you a rand ambassador? Genuine question and no offense intended. Just as a side note, I rate the brand and recommended their foils to a friend who could not be more happy with her purchase.

Direct to customer model has never worked well with the water sports industry - that being said who says it won't work this time. Have a few key guys to demo gear locally, conduits to unifoil - it's just the warranty issues that could be a problem. But hey it's a brave new world.

Gong and Takoon to name two are booming in Europe. Unifoil are ahead of the curve with direct to customer sales imo. The market is getting ever crowded, most people order online, direct to customer seems the obvious route imo..
