I converted my FCS bucket cap into a surf hemet by fitting a insert, in my case, out of a Curve bucket/helmet that I had. Also, I sewed some neoprene inserts onto the strap that fits over my ears. I did this as a suffer from surfers ear and now I don't have to wear ear plugs whenever I'm kiting or surfing. You can buy these helmet inserts cheaply online and works out way cheaper than $80 for a surf helmet. That's me on the left with my converted FCS bucket hat, and a good mate on the right with a Curve bucket/ helmet.
