Tardy mate, the surf has been so sporadic for so long but I got the ghostuuuuuuuuuuuup on some decent mid tide beach bombs mid week for about a 1 hour window. Session # 6 and the best yet. I am still amazed at the glide she has for a shortboard shape. really impressive. And what that does is allow you to paddle for the next section and make it with ease. FINALLY got my back foot on the pad and gave it some, even managed to chuck some buckets, heaps of fun - a really great board set up with larger side quobbas and a slightly smaller centre. Being a big lad, I've always aimed a bit wider with this shape, which can be a disadvantage sometimes. Tend to squirrel around the centre axis and get bogged. Not with this board. Can't wait for the next decent sesh. Yewwwww!

Hi Brenno. Why did you ask for the Revo's nose to be pulled in on your custom? What improvement was gained? Yes the nose looks a bit odd but the board surfs well. My 9' Revo handles just about anything from head high down to 2 foot beach breaks. That said I am very interested in the Shorty! Cheers

Bob

Hey Bob
I still have my 9 foot revo and looking at the nose on it today made me remember getting caught on a face and flipped more than once. Fun board but I guess I pushed it a bit hard a few times. My 9'4" x 28.5" with a pulled in snout doesn't get me in half as much trouble on much bigger waves. Still have both for different days though.
Cheers mate

Sometimes you look at the lines on a board and just think F yeah, she's beautiful, she's gonna work.
Looks like there might even be a wave in the morning to get her wet, fingers crossed....

First session thoughts:
Waves were small, sand all wrong and too many people, but stuff it I had a go anyway.
First things first it's a really good looking board. Not totally sold on the deck pad but each to their own. I love the stained timber and it's nice and light. 8'10" x 30.5 x 128.5L is perfect for me and I found it really comfortable. Most of the board was under water with the deck high and dry, which is just how I like it. Just enough nose kick to avoid pearling. I got on to one decent beachy and I could feel how she'd love a steep face, beautiful drawn out bottom turn. I'll have another go tomorrow, but one thing that I can honestly say is that this is the easiest board I've had of this shape to paddle on to a wave. Seriously. Most of the stuff I was surfing was 1 to 2 foot and I didn't miss one. Look forward to some solid swell, fingers crossed.

I had a couple of off the shelf revolutions before I did a custom 9'4", and asked for the nose to be pulled right in. I imagine it to be very similar to the shorty and it's still my favourite board to date. Looking at the dimensions I reckon the shorty would be a favourite in a quiver.
