Got out yesterday for the first time on my 1120/100 fuse/200 rear wing/carbon mast. 11-16 kt wind increasing to 18. Top speed was 20.38 but only because I was scairt and even under my 105kg it was overlifting with the stab neutral. Faster with the mastfoot more forward than I'm used to with other foils. Next time I'll try moderate negative stab and expect to go significantly faster. Very, very smooth with a mild hum at speed.

Hi all. Thought I would ask a question even it is a bit off-topic, the reason is that I saw some of you talk of, and have experience with, different fuse lengths and the AIO seemingly is using similar stab non-shim fore-aft stab angle adjustment as the Taaroa I'm using.

So to my question: I recently got a 105cm fuse after having used the 95cm for a while. The rest of the kit is 900, 1050, and 1250 front wings, 97cm carbon mast, and a 250 cm2 stab. Even if I absolutely love the kit with the 95cm fuse, I was hoping that I could get different sensation, with more stability at speed, using a longer 105cm fuse. After trying a few times it just does not feel balanced at all, too much lift in front and someone told me I needed a smaller stab for a long fuse like this. What is your experience?

Do you need a smaller stab with the the longer fuse, or do you simply put less downforce on the stab you already used with the shorter fuse? Can I simply put less stab power by sliding the stab forward (in case of Taaroa, stab leading edge will point tiny bit more upwards in the water) to compensate for the stab generating more downward pressure due to greater leverage of the longer fuse?
I want to avoid buying a smaller stab right now (170cm2), and it's anyhow not in stock at the moment.
What can you tell me what your experience is, please ?
Thanks and sorry for the off-topic question.

So your question is actually about the Taaroa? Sure, you can alter the performance pretty strongly by altering the stab angle and I'd suggest going all the way negative to start with and then work back toward neutral. In the long run it may take a change in technique, though. The Taaroa with a 95 fuse really likes being ridden upright but the 105 may want you to heel to windward to reduce the front wing's lift.
