my latest wing addition is a 5m ocean rodeo glide (hybrid, not full aluula). after a few sessions my initial impression is that i really don't like this wing and i'm trying to understand why. this is my smallest wing. my other two wings are a 5.5m strike v2 and 7m cwc, which i have a lot more time on. i've only taken the glide out in for me very windy conditions (gusting 25+) and i was definitely overpowered at 80kg. my main gripe with the wing is that it's very jittery under power and tended to have this backwind effect where wind would catch on the wrong side of the wing. sometimes it would throw me off, but most of the time it would make me spend way too much effort working to control the wing. even in lulls when i tried to sheet in hard i would experience the same thing. this made me nervous to push and i think i would have been better off taking the strike v2. i find the f-one wings more predictable.
i'm thinking of a few different possible explanations:
1. wing design between ocean rodeo and f-one is very different so i simply need more time to get used to ocean rodeo
2. the wind is much more turbulent at the higher wind speeds and i would have experienced the same effect using an f-one wing
3. ocean rodeo with its design and stiffness requires a higher level of skill overall to master (my skill level is still low)
anyone else experiencing anything similar?
The first thing to do is to remove the middle handle from the wing altogether, then the front and rear handles are fastened in the now vacant spots - the lower handles will make that 5m feel great - this is how you should have the handles (unless carbon ones)
