early intermediate winger...can gybe 95%, but not tack (yet).

Have a 1150 and 910 Axis foils...increasingly on the 910 for everything, with 420 rear.
Im 90kg, 50 Yr old.

Flat water is not an issue. And Summer (UK) was fine riding small 1-2 foot weak swell / waves, but this winter ive been (trying to) get into more powerful chest high+ swell (beach breaks) and finding my set up really hard to control when its windy and bigger swell

So - should i get a different front foil (HPS 930) - would that make any difference to control and ease in waves? My mate has the Sab940 and looks totally at ease/control - he reckons it looks like i have too much power (on the wave).
Really appreciate any guidance!

January could be a expensive month....new foil maybe and considereing getting a new board (Fanatic 95) so i can use footstraps that i cant seem to setup with the axis foils on my naish 110 board, and also ripped my 4m unit apart in some horrible chest high shore dump. Going out is ok-ish but getting back in, without getting smashed is proving hard!

Sorry can't answer your question as I don't have the experience. I was out today in Fife, over powered on wing and foil, felt like a beginner again. And I thought bit was a simple sport, one wing one foil. Lol. Can see it getting expensive

A smaller board will give you better control of the foil, so downsizing this will help.Axis 910 is great in wind swell, but probably maxes out in decent waves. I think you'd have to look at the BSC or ART wings and a black fuse for more performance. Personally I like to use a 80-90cm Wide wingspan foil for wave winging, I'm 85kg.

930 is a excellant wing-all the hps are. it will be like taking the e-brake off.
I never thought about it before getting on the hps, but I can stay on the water longer due the less resistance compared to red series wings.

I have had many many sessions on the HPS930. Excellent wing. Can be pumped onto foil well and very low stall. Turns well and great glide. Very very fast. I use it for everything: prone surf, kite foil, wing foil. Super light wind I use the 1010.

I was on some chest high waves a couple days ago proning on the HPS930 going so fast and I breached and it was actually a gnarly painful faceplant. So let me warn you these HPS are fast like knives.

I would recommend:
-85cm mast
-Short black fuse (ultrashort gets too pitchy on bigger waves)
-HPS930 or 880 although you will need a decent amount of wind for the 880. ART899 could be awesome but also needs stronger wind.

Im a bit lighter (80kg) and loving the 880 HPS in the waves, so 880/930 HPS likely be a really good upgrade for you.

I would not recommend getting talked into buying an ART for wave riding without demo-ing first, as they are a very different ride.

what's the difference in ride between them please?

tried a hps 930 today in chop on short fuse...felt a lot.more efficient and slippery but harder to get on foil compared to 910. 910 had natural glide. 930 faster

ART999 is harder again to get on foil. Needs more speed and does not like to be pumped aggressively. Once on foil pretty amazing acceleration, glide for days, amazingly low stall speed for its size. If wing downwinders are your thing, its hard to beat.

Trade off is it is not nearly as stable and well behaved in turns as the HPS. Flat water is fine, but when you are in the waves, and you want the extra stability and locked in turn feeling HPS is where the fun is.

ART definitely has better glide and pump though, I've only ridden 999
