After reading the discussions about narrow boards on this forum I have concluded that:
1) The performance of 22'' boards.
2) If you are not a beginner, it is not very difficult to get used to a narrow board. As soon as you get moving, balance is not a big deal.
So, why would you choose for a >20'' narrow board?
I would like to replace my 80l board for a narrow board. I am 92kg and also have a 70l board for sessions >18 knots. I was thinking about a board around 90l and 20'' width. I prefer manoeuvrability for waveriding above extreme light wind performance. Am I right about the dimensions to replace my 80l board?
Going a little bit wider allows the board to be significantly thinner, at the same volume, which is going to affect your maneuverability.
I carry my board upside down from the foil and 21" wide is comfortable for where the board hits my knee. 22" and wider hurts my knee when I carry the board and it bumps against my knee.
How long are you thinking?
