The other option is to get from the States. I'm not keen on buying ali express ones unless someone can reassure me I'm not going to lose my foil to the depths of the ocean. Thanks in advance

I use those Chinooks on a lot of boards, they're strong as hell

Annoyed the second series theyve made ow has rocker built in .... if you router out a slotvthe sit about 3mm high in the middle its a big piss off so if its a flat board u have to set them deep and fill a bit at front and back before laminating

Mark, I received a pair of 16" from Chinook, I'm calling Monday to see if this a mfg. error and how to get them flat. Heat?

I bolted the tracks to angle iron and baked them at 225 F for 15 min. They are straight now and will be installing with a tuttle to track base adapter as a jig. All good! Thanks Chinook!

I've got a giant oven for heat forming core foams and stuff so to make a little jig to bolt tracks to and heat them again to flatten - piece of cake

Well that's all well and good but what about if a builder DOESN'T have access to to an oven or autoclave? Seems like anyone reading this would say if chinook's manufacturing process wasn't up to scratch they'd look elsewhere...

You can do it in any oven

It doesnt need to be done, i just dont want to use 2mm of filler at each end of the tracks on WS foiling which has extreme loading.

Once i discovered another brand also has a curve, Chinooks explanation that it is cooling contraction seems to make sense

To be fair, its way better material too I've repaired many boards where they use such crap tracks they're just rubbish like longboard boxes and bound to fail

But yeah - really want flat....

I have been looking at the Aliexpress ones. There seem to be quite a few sold but the only reviews seem to say that they've arrived & they look OK - no real world feedback. Looking at the pics of them they do look reasonably chunky.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has seen them fail & if so how.
That goes with production boards - many track failures?

I have bought those ones you refer to, but yet to test. They are also curved a little. Plastic has less fibre content that the Chinook but we're used to that for chinese copy stuff. In mast tracks and US boxes it might be acceptable (maybe) but I would be careful with foil tracks. I will use them in my board first.

Production boards, don't get me started. I repair a lot of failures where the box is clearly insufficient but most companies have realised using cheap longboard boxes doesn't work. Then the installs.... gawd. Varies a lot.

I'm no expert but have built a few foil boards using the Futures foil tracks , I bought some of the aliexpress copies and the plastic just felt cheap and brittle so I didn't bother using them in the end.

Any pictures of this setup? I just got some Future boxes recently and stared at them for a few minutes as I swore they had some curve. I'd like to straighten them out before installing as well.
