rigidigi said..Hi I have been prone surf foiling on 5ft board for a while now . I have never wind surfed nor sup. But race a 14ft catamaran and surfed for 45 yrs. Love foiling.
I have my eye on a 5mt wind wing. Hoping to learn winging and get into and out of the surf. Any advice appreciated. I'm 76 kgs

Learning on a prone board is doable but will foresure make life harder than it needs to be. You will also need more wind just to pull you up out of the water. Like some others have said find a small sup foil board and do the learning on this just to get all the skills side up.
Where about are you located? I have a few SUP foil boards around the place and if close enough to one of them you can probably borrow one to get the first part of the learning side done maybe.
If you really want to learn on the prone go down and practice just standing on the board underwater as this will be a very important part. Once you can do this no worries then bring the wing into it as well and hold it high out of the water, you will need 15 knots or more to start with at least.
