I am lucky enough to ride in a place where people like to try all the latest and greatest.I am currently riding a quiver of KT Atlas foils and, coming from Armstrong HAv2, I really found a significant improvement in terms of speed and turning ability between the two.Yesterday I tried the Code 1250R, granted it is a big dawg, but I have never ever ridden a foil with that glide and efficiency. It is really of a whole different dimension compared to anything else I have tried (of the same AR, I have only tried the North DW1100 and DW900).Are people who switched to Code happy with their decision?

Code strikes the best balance between ease of use and performance.

Honestly, they're just incredibly easy to ride! Everyone I've had try them agrees-super simple takeoff, excellent low end, efficient pumping, smooth glide, and a great way to save energy. I'm 95+ kg and I'm often on the 680 for SUP downwind, while the 860 is my go-to in light wind.
They also hold up really well in heavy conditions. I'm not the fastest myself, but some friends have pushed the 680 or 600R into the 1:3x range and are regularly around 1:4x.

The tradeoff is that they're not the most lively (for instance compared to Lift), and they don't have the insane glide feeling you can get from, for example, AFS.
But since you can size down quicker, you regain some turning ability, so overall it feels like a fair balance

The Code style connection does wear over time, just like all other brands of that style. IMO it's very easy to maintain and a good, basic, DIY skill to have.

I prefer the AFS connection as well but don't think anyone should be afraid of Code wearing out.

Just changed to a 980s. Really stable. confidence inspiring, great glide & can carve beyond my capabilities. Depending on your weight this foil could be your post-beginner foil & you'd never grow out of it. I once asked, when I was looking at buying Code, why there isn't the same amount of info/ reviews out there about them compared to other foil brands. Someone commented that they just get on & do the job. They don't need the hype.

Most people try them and buy them, they kinda sell themselves. S Series foils are amazing all rounders, been on them for over a year and still frothing

I've been running Code 1.5 years. Still a tight fit on the taper. Cannot say that about my previous experience with a parallel fitting mast head brand. I had to apply epoxy, and sometimes even a layer of glass to retighten the head after 6 months to a year of on-off wear at the connection.

Regarding the KT, Duotone, Mikes Lab, F-fone style connection. Think about how hard it will be to retighten those complex surfaces once wear appears. You cannot stop wear. Epoxy rubs away. But even worse, those system count on the "screw" for strength of connection. Yikes! Engineering fail. Connection design should be strong mechanically first. Screw should be secondary. Big read flag to most engineers.

Never had any noticeable wear on a ML foil connection after years of hard use and just as stiff as when they were new. The Code foils fuse is so chunky that thing must be drag not to mention the thicker mast. Those foils scream SLOW

Are you referring to SAB? Because they are coming out with a carbon fuse.

But, Mike doesn't make 1400 cm span foils. That's what causes the wear and stress. Everything works with normal spans.

A bit more hype

Riding 1540S in downwind SUP and 720S as daily driver in winging. Comment about slow is BS. Connection stays rock solid. Love the foils, glide, pump, turning, stable. That 1540S beats my old Kujira 1440 in every aspect hands down. The 720S is just so much fun and has great low end too, insane range and giving bucket loads of confidence..

I have not heard or read of failures with Duotone.
2 guys I know that are over 110 kg and foil many days a week, one clocked up 5,000k distance in a year, and often on the 1750 Amp, no issues.

I know who you're talking about if by beach you mean the river - and I think he meant X series in general will replace S. 810x, 700x, and the other larger sizes I'll be doing pretty much the same, but I'll keep an 850s for lightweight travel - and an 860R for open ocean.

I totally see something like this replacing larger sizes but I would have thought people would still love their small S series foils. Just a little more forgiving is what I would expect. I love being on my 650 Silk but ooooof that sucker punishes me when I make mistakes! vs something like the 700 enduro which is so easy to ride. Clearly the enduro and S line aren't in the same AR category but I'm just spitballing the idea that super fast medium to large 8AR foils are awesome but a 9-10AR can be welcome down in the 600-700 range?

Gotta get out and try it myself. Would love to meet up with you and tagteam a MA foil review sometime Zarb!

Yup demoed the 810X a bunch on a big river day, and a mellower river day. With another of the larger sizes it will likely replace all my S series.

We have all the MAII's too, and they're great wings - they feel more friendly than the Code X, but are also less playful when hacking big carves. Code X also pumps a bit better, so I'm looking forward to proning them.

The hype is real. So happy my investment in a new foil system paid off. 100kg winger on the 1130S, 167 AR tail, Medium Fuse and Ultra HM 85 mast. Today's conditons were 15 knots in 2 foot wind swell First, this thing is smooth and stable. Feels like I have luxury suspension with shock absorbers. Not the fastest setup but still plenty of glide and easy to pump and turn. Igot some very long glides and i was abme to easikt connect waves, The glide gives me a couple extra seconds on the gybes and the low stall speed keeps me up even if the waves are working against me. Switching feet is rock solid. This thing is smooth and not twitchy at all. Once I'm harnessed in on the wing, I can ride so comfortably, look around, look at my watch, and enjoy the sunset. So happy!

Code S is not the only magical foil. Seems like there are others can do things better.

It's a well proven system of really good foils. Ain't hype at this point.
