If you wear a waistbelt or harness, do you connect your:
(a) wing
(b) board
(c) both
(d) neither - just use it to hook into the wing

Trying to optimize the setup and Ive been using a waistbelt to connect to my wing primarily. The pros are that it frees up my hands on most maneuvers, and I like that it pulls the wing down when I crash - thereby reducing the frequency of the wing flipping over. The cons are that it gets complicated if things get tangled, and on some specific maneuvers I need to be conscious about how I reach for the handles or else I get tied up.

I use a Dakine Chameleon Harness. In flat water I'll hook my board leash to the rear of the harness. In waves I use on ankle. Always have wing leash on wrist. I find this works best to prevent the leashes from getting tangled as you have your whole body separating the 2 leash points.

I like coiled leash on my wing.

C putting wing on your wrist is a good way to tweak you shoulder trust me much better all to waist pulling torso not limbs never perfect with 2 leashes but undoubtedly way to go at this point in time, in the winging world,I use a modified NSI minimalist waist harness with board and wing attached to waist

I bought two "Aztron" coiled leashes from a local supermarket. It turned out I can chain the two together and the length is perfect for my waist, so I just use them as a belt with the board leash sticking out the back and the wing leash coming from the front. It would be better to have two different colors so I can tell which is which, but it was cheap and it works.

I do a lot of 3D design and printing, so if I feel like starting to use a harness, I will probably print a harness hook that goes on the "belt". If I don't like that, I may take one of my old windsurfing harnesses with a broken bar/hook and turn it into a board-friendly wingsurfing harness. I have a lot of windsurfing experience though, so avoiding damaging the board with a harness hook when getting on the board is pretty much in my DNA. Avoiding damage when I take a tumble while foiling might be a different thing...

I have an old shorts harness from kiting. I attach wing leash (coiled) to the front loop for kite leash. I have a reel leash on the rear loop for board. Nerdy as heck but works great. I occasionally get back foot looped into board leash. One negative: in significant waves, there's potential to get leashes twisted in wipeouts. Without a quick release, I think it's potentially dangerous...so before surf season, either need to add a quick release or revert to a regular ankle surfboard leash.

Before that, I had a cheap plastic webbing strap I was using for a belt, but I realized that both my safeties were entirely reliant on the dollar store quality connection. If using a belt to attach both leashes, make sure it's a good solid one.

Use my waist harness for the board with a coil leash. Keeps it out of the way and under control but man does it do some damage to my wettie...

For the Wing Leash I just chuck it on my wrist. Keeps it out of the way when mounting the board after my (numerous...) wipeouts..

The belt is an old one from a ride engine harness, Rideengine board bag pad slides over the click buckle to stop it hitting the board, the Slingshot tube clip holds the loose en of the strap, which I think is the board bag strap. I run a coil leash from the board to the harness, the leg rope cuff gets slide up around the belt and velcroed as normal. Coil leash from the wing to my wrist.

Dive belt with EVA foam,diy plastic hook.

Wing attaches to front and board to back.

Dive belt buckles are quick release but on big falls when downwinding water would sometimes lever it open,i have a velcro closure now.

mcrt - what plastic did you use in making the DIY hook. My first hook looked the goods but quickly snapped.
NSI have a great hook but only sell direct from USA - which shipping costs make it too expensive for Australia.

Same for me,i am in Spain and the NSI would have been too pricey.

Mine is 2cm thick kitchen cutting board,feels like nylon plastic.
I bought the cutting board at one of those chinese shops that sell everything,thought it would break but it does not.

Used it a lot,strong winds,long upwinds,it does not even flex in gusts.

I left healthy margins of material around the stress points.
Radiused edges with dremel.
Tape is cm.

Thanks mcrt - I'd forgot about the universal chopping board. They used to be good to make sims out of too.
