Hi All,
Can someone give methe low down on winging Umina in Westerly winds. It's that time of year and today I saw 3 guys winging the tiny shorebreak at Long Reef - Dee Why. Winds W / WNW at 20-30 knots. I know this is crap for kiting but wings can handle gusts (luff it) and lulls (Pump) and So my question is can I get out to little Box (130 litre SUP / Foil board - 4m wing) in a westerly and surf back ? I've kited there in SE winds before lockdown and it is amazing.

PS. Only started winging this season.
PPS Watch the tide of course???

Cheers
Stu

You can do westerlies, they will be gusty.

Only go out mid to high tide.

Simply stay above the main sand bar and never ever go into the channel unless it is SW to S.

Thanks, I don't mind the gusts as my local spot is Parramatta river so I do a lot of pumping. Monday is looking good with Low tide at 1pm so mid arvo could be could. If it's clean I should be able to stay out in deeper water.
