Would anyone know the correct torque settings for assessing a Fanatic aluminium foil please?

Hello, Mikey,

I presume the bolts are stainless steel and are being threaded into aluminium. As I don't know the size of the bolts, I can't offer a torque setting, so may I suggest you contact Fanatic direct and ask for their advice (or go onto the USA forum (iWindsurf Community :: View Forum - Windsurfing Discussion) and see what they can offer).

I had a lot of frustration on this, looking for the tension of stainless bolts into aluminium, stainless bolts into stainless heli-coils, TI bolts into aluminium, etc. etc. What I did find is this chart: www.engineeringtoolbox.com/torque-lubrication-effects-d_1693.html. Except for TI, if you use Tefgel on the bolts, the torque needs to be downgraded. You might care to ask about this if you go to Fanatic.

Not much help, but best I can offer.

I use a Park tool torque driver that is set on 6 lbs torque.. You can see it in this vid.. There's no need for them to be super tight..

Tnx Windman and David. In searching, I found one brand said 10nm, but I will look into both your answers. Cheers.

I am using a small electric screwdriver with 4.5 Nm. Strong enough, no issues so far...

Armstrong M6 foil and mast are 8Nm, "firm hand tight"

I use a bike tool set at 6nm for all my AXIS screws, seems to work fine, a friend done his his normal hand tight and then tried the tool and it just needed a little bit more to set it.

Just saw the new Fanatic 'Glide' foil sets; these have the recommended max. torque settings printed on the foils.
Front- 15nm
